    Computers

    Dudes,

I use a laptop to play. There might be an oppurtunitiy for me to get a new one (hopefully that wont sux as much). I brought one home last night to test but it wouldn't connect. I got some message about AGP needing to be turned on or something.

The video card on the laptop is a GMA900 64mb shared (HP nx6120). I ran a direct X thingo and it said that button for AGP was blanked out. I take it that this card can not support AGP. So does that mean that it can play L2 or is there some way around it?

Anyways I went looking for anothere model (compaq is what we use) and they use the ATi cards, but all seem to be PCI Express.

    Would these cards run L2?

    RadeonĀ® X600
    or
    ATI Mobility FireGL V5000

If anyone can shed some light, that would be great.

    Thanks

    Mog

PCI Express is whats replacing AGP as it is potentualy faster
I would say that yes PCI Express should work with L2 as it is better than AGP.

Most new motherboards are now using PCI Express and there for donot have an AGP slot.

Yeah those cards should play l2 fine, im using an old card Geforce4 and its still ok.

Basically AGP is the type of connection on the vid card, so that should have nothing to do with weather it can run the game, just the actual vid card itself will determine if L2 runs.

Maybe update directX(if not the latest ver) and try that. Otherwise the card is probably not capable to run L2. But yeah those other cards you noted will be able to.

I had a similar problem when I tried a ATI card Mag gave me, downloaded the latest catalyst driver and L2 wouldnt work, wouldnt pick up directx and stopped.
Checked directx, option was greyed out, so I gave the card back to Mag and slapped back in my GF4Mx

Vilnya/Aryella had the same problem when he installed L2 on his laptop but he said he hit 'yes' or 'okay' on whatever the popup message was and it worked fine after that. (Assuming I'm remembing the conversation correctly).
