Shift+T = Pet attack selected target.

Its how i assign my pet to engage. Much faster than using your mouse to click the attack symbol each time. Works for Warlocks as well.

Practice Jump shooting early. This involves running away from your target, jump, spin 180deg in the air, shoot an autospell such as arcane shot, return to face the original way you were facing, land and keep running away from the mob. Its the most effective way of Kiting.

If you intend on using a frost trap to kite (freezes target for % duration), dont use Scorpid sting, as any damage will remove the freeze effect.

    Beware NE Hunters.
They have shadowmeld, which makes them invisible until they move.
Combine this with Aimed shot (crits insanely high) and you have a huge damage wad being fired from teh shadows.

These days the pets are pretty much alike.
The only difference being that certain pets have inherint abilities, which give them spells like Shield Walls (turltes) and prowl (stealth - cats).

most people aim for a bear at low level or a cat. Cats are great as they have reasonable armour values and nice damage output.
I would recommend a cat to start with, but bears are just as good at lower level. The actual quest to get your first pet can be a bit confusing, so just ask if you get stuck with it,.
