    not much to a mage.

    water vendor FTW

nah while lvling go fire, max damage. uber damage in fact, can 2 shot players at lvl 60. all skills are basicly the same, blink teleports you forward a few yards, sheep is extremely usefull, yes it turns them into a sheep...most everything else is damage damage damage.

seqo is probably the best for this.

You can only 2 shot people if you have the two epic trinkets

I have a 60 mage and while it was fun leveling to 60. As soon as you hit 60 your at your peak of your power, everyone else just gets better and you stay the same...

leveling fire is good to start with at about lvl40-50 it is worth respecing to ice/arcane for AoE goodness and start AoE grinding to 60. +damage gear is your friend although it doesn't help as much with the AoE.

There's certainly lots to playing a mage, but as Zalroth said... without the double trinks (I'll be getting my second one next ZG run ) dealing damage equal to hunters/warlocks at the same gear level is quite difficult.

The basics, level through fire - get ignite and impact. Impact is great because it makes up for the inability of the fire tree to effectively kite mobs/players. Improved Fireblast is quite handy, although, the cooldown on fireblast is pretty low anyway. Blastwave is powerful and can proc an ignite and impact - very nice spell. Pyroblast seems like a massive spell when you first look at it, the damage at 60 is almost Fireball levels though... considering cast time is ridiculous unless you have 21 points into Arcane (For Presence of Mind - insta cast spell) its a rarely used spell that isn't that great.

I used Frost from the beginning... its slow, and sometimes difficult, but you do have more control over your fight (Unless a resist occurs, in which case... run/hope/pray for your cooldowns to come up soon). Fire is all about pummelling whatever your attacking enough that it dies so you don't have to move.

At first, stam and intellect are your main attributes. Spirit is next to useless. As you progress, you start to acquire +dmg gear - the crafted Dreamweave items come to mind - that are your only effective means of increasing your damage. As compared to a hunter, who merely need a better weapon/ammo.

At 60, you stack +dmg like no tomorrow.

    Need any help, just ask

Oh, another tip... be a troll... Beserking is a surprisingly good racial ability.
