    Fury Closed Beta

Woohoo I got into Fury closed beta!
    http://www.unleashthefury.com

    Excerpt*
    Fury is revolutionizing Online PVP.

We?re not going to shackle you with class restrictions. We?re not going to make you grind levels for months before you can begin PvP. We?re not even going to make you fight a single mob!

We?re certainly not going to bore you.

Instead, we?re going to give you the visceral thrill and unrivalled challenge of facing human opponents from the first time you step into battle.

The speed of Fury?s combat is unlike anything you have ever seen in an MMO. Most of your abilities are instant-cast, which allows you to traverse obstacles and chase fleeing enemies instead of being frozen in place waiting for a spell to go off.

Wrapped around the pure adrenaline rush of combat is an in-depth character advancement system that lets you unlock over 400 abilities which you can use to develop a character-class all your own. Add in a huge selection of equipment to choose from, Clan and individual Ladders to dominate and you have a formula that is guaranteed to bring out the bloodlust in anyone.

    Gametypes

Fury will contain three game types on release offering individual and team competition, with team sizes varying from 4 to 16.

    Vortex
Vortex is best described as advanced capture the flag. Your team has to capture Vortex crystals and return them to your base, but beware ? they can be stolen too! This game type focuses on tactical play; form advanced strategies to out play your opponent.

    Elimination
Elimination is straight up 4v4 combat, pitting your skill and strength against your opponents in a fight to the death. Think quickly, as the ?best of three? format will give you time to change your strategy if you lose a round.

    Bloodbath
Bloodbath is free for all gladiatorial mayhem. It?s every man for himself, so survivability and killing power are key. Collect blood tokens from your fallen enemies to build up points and climb the score board.

    Matchmaking

When you enter a Warzone in Fury, your opponents will be selected by a dynamic matchmaking system. This system looks at a number of attributes to find an opponent that is as close to your skill level as possible. This means every match will be fair and balanced: a challenge ? not a waste of time.

    Competitive Support

No competitive game would be complete without some form of ranking. In Fury, ladders will be the main focus. You will be able to track the top clans and individuals for each game type.

There will also be ladders that only take into account your last X number of games. This removes the grind element seen in other competitive ladders, making skill the key factor, not time.

There are also big plans for the future of Fury competitive play. We are planning for regular tournaments, with prizes for the winning teams and players. We value community feedback on all issues affecting competition, and will ensure there is a fair environment to compete in.

Well personally....I absolutely LOVED this game, was glued to my PC all weekend which has been a rare occurence for me lately. It is definately on my 'must buy' list at this stage, and look forward to next weekend's playtesting.

Basically it's played like a fps, you join a queue(by yourself or as a group/clan), and once in battle either kill everyone(bloodbath) or achieve objectives as a group(vortex). I didn't do elimination this weekend.

There are an insane amounts of skills, of which you are able to get everything eventually, but at first you pretty much unlock skills from your chosen starter class. You can save presets, so with enough skills you can change 'class' on the fly to buffer, healer, damdealer, crowdcontrol, hybrid or anything. Did I mention there are heaps of skills and a huge variation of different effects. Every skill belongs to a element (eg nature, fire, decay etc) and some skill types don't go together.

Action is fast paced, there are limitless options for strategy, builds and teamwork for clans, as an organised clan wtfpwns.

To 'level' you get essence by completing the battles. If you use nature skills you get nature essence, so if I used say 90%nature skills and 10%life skills, I would get mostly nature essence with a bit of life essence. You then take this essence and trade it in for 'trials' which give you new skills and increase your level by a certain amount. You can also buy skills with money you earn.

At the end of matches, there is a whole ranking system, and you get extra essence for winning a particular award. There is also a list of items generated and you get to choose 3, and roll for them if someone else chooses the same item.

You get equip points depending on your level. Eg at first rank you get 55 equip points, at second rank 109, and gets higher each level. Each bit of armor and each skill costs a certain amount of equip points. Eg basic helm(5 equip points), better helm(8 equip points), Damage skill(5 points). So you have to balance you build between armor and skills, but don't worry you end up with alot of points after a few levels. If you add gear/skills to your char and the total is over you equip points(eg 58/55) you won't be allowed in the battles.

Combat works by your skills and charges, you can hold 10 charges and use multiple skill trees. Eg a basic damage skill may give +2 charges and a high damage skill may use -4 charges. So you spam your first skill, build up some charges and then use the high dam skill. Other skills are neutral, they don't cost or subtract anything, you just use em. Everything is skill based, there is no whacking on someone with just your weapon(u must use melee skills), it's a skillfest game. Most skills are instantaneous with 0 cooldown but there are still alot powerful skills may have cooldowns or cast/use time.

Now the bad points(due to the fact it's closed beta):

Optimization. My PC sucks tbh, and I would miss the first bit of the vortex battles unable to move. Sometimes the enemy would be knocking on our door before I could even move, suggesting to me that it's my pc. So unless you have a descent pc, your gonna lag at the start of fights. The low res rendered artwork is not final yet, so Auran are working on their optimization, and know of the issues. I would love to play with good res dammit!

Party matching system is mostly great, but sometimes you get powerful chars in the battle. They are still tweaking the party matching system but many more people online should balance things out also, so there are (hopefully) more people online around your level. That being said your char skills and your own personal skill level can offset this also. You can still stand a chance and your not just outgeared/outleveled and rage quit. It's so sweet when you kill a higher level who just killed you 3 times before.

So if you're interested in farming people not mobs, Fury has something for you. Join the Beta.
FYI Auran(game makers) are an Australian company.
