Australia's Origin store is now running a holiday sale, halving the price of digitally distributed games, excluding the game you really want. Battlefield 3 is only 30% off making it $56. There are some good deals though, Dead Space 2 is only $20, compared to the $35 sale price on Steam. However if you buy Dead Space 2 on Steam using a US VPN you can pick it up for just $10.

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand landed on Xbox 360 and PC last night. If you weren't aware, it has already been available on the PlayStation 3 for a week. Owners of the Limited Edition get the DLC pack including Wake Island, Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula at no extra charge. I don't think there was any doubt in the mind of many shooter enthusiasts that Battlefield 3 was going to convert some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players, pinching some of Activision's profit margin. Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand was released for the PlayStation 3 a couple of days ago, while the rest of us on PC and Xbox 360 have to hold on just a wee bit longer - five days in fact. While we wait to play it first hand, DICE have produced a new trailer to watch which gives us a peak into the chaos we can anticipate on the re-imagined Wake Island.

At approximately 6pm AEST on December 6th, that's Tuesday next week, Battlefield 3 will be updated with a 2GB client patch as well as a server update. The reason for such a hefty client patch is that it contains content required for BF3's Back to Karkand expansion. A Gulf of Oman gameplay trailer has been released by DICE showing off a bunch of awesome vehicle and destruction footage. Three popular vehicles from Battlefield 2 return with the Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand expansion including the STOVL fighter jet and desert buggy. It looks like EA has listened to the overwhelming number of complaints regarding the inability to change your Origin username, especially as it was also your unchangeable Battlefield 3 soldier name. For some it was because their username contained their real name, for others because they never knew "05261987" would be used for anything except an account name. By 11:59pm PDT on October the 21st all of you who have pre-ordered Battlefield 3 on Origin will have received an e-mail including your order information, and instruction on how to begin your pre-load. It's recommended that your Origin client is up to date, so ensure you fire it up beforehand as well. Battlefield 3 unlocks on October 25 for the US, and October 27 for Australia....
