Another present has arisen from BlizzCon 2011 in the shape of this StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm trailer. Unlike most Blizzard trailers this one includes gameplay, quite a lot of it in fact. Don't worry though, there's still a good share of brilliant cinematic action. PS. Sarah Kerrigan is really, really hot. I love that possessed-by-evil look in a woman.

The official StarCraft II blog has revealed that we can soon expect regions to be linked. It is highlighted that by doing so we'll see larger pools of players, resulting in improved match-making performance. More players of course means more potential matches, and that means less waiting. Your Battle.net friends list will also be cross-region. For more information, check out the official FAQ....

Tonight marks the beginning of an epic stretch of Starcraft 2 gaming coming out of Korea. We've got a solid month of gaming with broadcasts five days a week to look forward to. We also see the commencement of a newly revamped Team League which will for the first time feature FXOpen; a team with a strong Australian presence...

Confidential Blizzard production slate documents were recently leaked onto the internet, pictured here, outlining the release of many upcoming games. These include StarCraft II, Diablo III and World of Warcraft expansions. The most interesting of the lot being "Titan", which has now been confirmed by Blizzard to be their next generation massively multiplayer online title...

While it's barely been over a week since Season 2 was decided and NesTea took home the first place prize of US$89,000 we can already get straight back to watching the world's elite Starcraft 2 players doing what they do best when GSL Season 3 kicks off tonight.

It's that time again - the biggest tournament in all of e-sports concludes tomorrow night! The final match of the GSL Season 2 will be played out in Seoul, Korea and one gosu ubernerd will be going home with the huge first place prize of US$89,600. (I'm sure second place will be consoled somewhat by the cool US$27,000 prize, though.)

Blizzard are running a Battle.net free weekend for South East Asia StarCraft II players. That's us! So if you're an Aussie and haven't yet checked out the awesomeness that is SC2, make sure you set aside the weekend of the 19th-21st of November. On Thursday evening at 10pm AEST (11pm AEDT), the 18th of November, the free weekend kicks off, and runs through until the same hour on Sunday night....

The round of 64 for season 2 of the GOMtv Starcraft 2 Open kicks off this evening in South Korea. This is the biggest SC2 comp in the world, if not the biggest comp in all of e-sports considering that first prize is a massive US$85,000....

Some companies create ineffective anti-cheat systems, and others do that, and then sue the people making the cheats. The latter is Blizzard, and are taking three men - "Permaphrost," "Cranix," and "Linuxawesome" - to court for the creation of StarCraft II cheats. Blizzard is accusing the men of "multiple counts of copyright infringement", aiming to acquire damages and a cut of the money made from the sale of those cheats....

This weekend the next round of MLG Pro gets underway in Washington DC. Games covered include Halo 3, Tekken and WoW. Thankfully, despite being played on the other side of the planet they start the first day late in the afternoon (their time) which means we have a chance to watch a few matches at a somewhat reasonable hour....

It has been almost 12 years since StarCraft, and the Blizzard hype machine has been in full swing since the announcement of its sequel, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, at BlizzCon all those years ago. Well the Hyperion has finally landed, and we've spent the last week hammering away at the single player campaign. A little over 30 hours since Australian release, the internet is exploding with StarCraft II, as are the Battle.net servers. Despite those intermittent problems, Blizzard have spoken out, clearly proud of the game's release. And so they should be, with hugely popular midnight launch parties and an estimated 3 million copies to be sold this week, according to industry analyst Michael Pachter.

A couple of weeks ago we reported that EB Games were doing midnight launch parties along Australia's East coast, at their Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne flagship stores. Well it turns out it might be a whole lot bigger, and further reaching than first anticipated - even Darwin.
