ID:	596280 We've known very little about the development of Battlefield 3, and have heard nothing at all about it since this time last year when its existence was officially confirmed. Now though, we know that there are plans for a beta. The short end of the stick is that to play in the beta, you'll need to purchase a Limited Edition version of EA's soon-to-be released Medal of Honor.

    Battlefield 3 beta invitations are said to be sent out sometime within 12 months of Medal of Honor's release, which is this October. Medal of Honor Limited Edition also comes with a number of out-of-box weapons, which we assume will otherwise need to be earned.

    With this beta announcement is confirmation that Battlefield 3 is headed to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. That news is sure to excite console gamers, but I can already feel the anxiety building amongst Battlefield veterans who will without doubt fear the release of a poor console port on PC.

      BF3 uses Frostbite 2.0 ... would be curious to see if it still has all the failings of the 1.5 version used in BC2.

      Thus, I'm siding with Josh;

      Well, that's a lie. I probably will. If I can get it for $60 or less.

      Alot of games are rather shit these days. BC2 was the first ever game i preordered. Probably will be my last game i will preorder.
      The bonus of preordering is not worth the risk.
      Thank god i didnt buy blacks ops and have a friend to share his steam account with me.

      Also rec, im not saying im not going to buy this game at all. Im going to let them release it and give it a month or so. If it is a true bf2 replacement then it should last more than a year minimum.

      Hope so
      The next generation of Frostbite will make its debut with Battlefield 3. DICE has confirmed that this engine is being designed to take full advantage of the DirectX 11 API.[1] As DirectX 11 is backwards compatible with DirectX 10, the engine will run using DirectX 10 hardware with some DX11-exclusive features disabled. DirectX 9 and Windows XP support will be removed entirely.[2]
      At SIGGRAPH 2010, DICE announced that they are adding some DirectX 11 features to Frostbite 2.[3] These features include:
      Tile-based deferred shading acceleration via DirectCompute, for speed enhancement reasons. They are also porting the code to work on the PlayStation 3's SPUs.
      Morphological Antialiasing (MLAA) implemented with DirectCompute, for bandwidth conservation. MLAA is currently available only to a few PlayStation 3 games such as God of War III. DICE intends to bring this feature to DirectX 11 GPUs.
      In addition to the new DirectX 11 features, DICE has also demonstrated the improved destruction capabilities of the engine.[4]

    Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

    I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
