ID:	596294 What's going on in the world of StarCraft II since we last updated you? E-mail scams, outrageous sales figures, outrageous review averages, and even video card killing bugs. We'll start with the good stuff; StarCraft II is comfortably topping the UK sales charts, and amazingly has already surpassed the lifetime sales of the 12 year old original, even though it has only been on sale for one week!

You don't have to look far to figure out why. The answer is simple; it's tremendously good. Be sure to check out our review of the campaign if you haven't done so yet. But hey, if you don't believe us, believe the Metacritic review average of 95. Here are just a few words from some big names in modern day games journalism:
    • Joystiq (10/10)
It's proof that games don't have to be disposable, that some games are so creative and balanced and fun that they don't go out of style or disappear over the years. Some games, it turns out, really are timeless. Read Full Review

    • GameSpot (9.5/10)
Traditional and fresh in all the right ways, this strategy sequel is an absolute joy for veterans and newcomers alike. Read Full Review

Now onto the bad stuff; scammers are sending out faux e-mails with equally faux StarCraft II CD keys, presenting themselves as a Battle.net purchase receipt. Don't be fooled, you have not just received someones purchase confirmation and key by accident. When you login to "Battle.net," you'll have just gifted your login details to the guys behind the fiendish scheme, thus enabling the hijacking of your account.

Lastly, if you're having some overheating issues while playing, you're not alone. StarCraft II, despite its modest hardware requirements, has been melting video cards! If you fear you might soon be a victim of this same fate, you can take your computer out of harms way by adding "frameratecapglue=30" and "frameratecap=60" to your "Documents\StarCraft II\variables.txt" file. The problem will be addressed officially in a forthcoming patch.

  • CS:GO gets a substantial content update
    by rec
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta impressions
    by rec
I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
