  • STAR WARS: The Old Republic Tatooine developer walkthrough

Dallas Dickinson, Director of Production on STAR WARS: The Old Republic gives us a hefty 11 minute walkthrough of the forthcoming MMO at E3 2011. You'll see actual gameplay within Tatooine, played out using a Sith Sorcerer. Despite looking typically "MMO", it looks like it might be one of the better ones.

Deep under the blistering sands of Tatooine lies a research facility that was abandoned by the Czerka Corporation centuries ago under mysterious circumstances. The Empire believes the facility may hold the key to crushing the Republic once and for all. Watch Imperial players attempt to uncover these ancient secrets and the dangers that guard them.

I'm hanging out for the day when an MMO delivers a truly rich and engaging experience, without monotonous filler. When I get a quest, and it's a wall of text about killing 25 --insert level-appropriate enemy name here-- I pretty much just close the game and uninstall it. I have better ways to waste my time.

This isn't it, but it seems like somewhat of a step in the right direction. I'll definitely be trying it.
I agree, except I am usually happy to kill X of Y to reach level Z. Well, I used to be. Now I am a lot harder to impress when it comes to MMO's. I don't usually suffer through a game for the sake of it. That's why I stopped playing Conan, Star Trek etc pretty quickly. They were just bad

But I'm sounding pessimistic. Fingers crossed this'll be great and running around as a Bounty Hunter / Smuggler will be great fun

i'm glad they revamped the GUI, looks much better now.
also noticed they went with the mass effect style dialogue wheel - interesting choice for a pc only game

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta impressions
    by rec
I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
