ID:	597070Another Minecraft pre-release has been made available to gamers, featuring a focus on The Nether, Minecraft's version of hell. I'm not entirely sure why we keep calling these things "leaks" however, as it was linked to by a Minecraft developer, Jens Bergensten, via his Twitter account. Seems pretty official to me!

    Jens revealed that the update would add "two new hostile mobs," one of which "will (nearly) force you to get better upgrades. If you want to fight it, that is."

    Minecraft Beta 1.9 prerelease can be found here, (server jar also available)

      Since buying MC ages ago and mucking around with building castles in the sky etc, I'm waiting until the "multiplayer survival" aspect is robust enough before returning to MC. Are we there, yet?

      What I was looking for were also objectives, perhaps boss mobs that you have to hunt down and defeat as a group (sounds mmo-lite). I think I may have to wait a while for that.

      What am I after?
      * Exploring with purpose
      * Night-time is genuinely dangerous and scary
      * You can still build castles in the sky
      * There are objectives to the game that can allow point #1

    Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta impressions
    by rec
    I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....
