StarCraft II release date locked in

Blizzard have sent out a press release finally declaring the date that we can all run out and pick-up our StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty pre-orders! The highly anticipated RTS will be available world-wide on July 27th. They've also noted that "players will also be able to purchase StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty directly from Blizzard Entertainment shortly after the retail launch." What exactly this means I'm unsure, but I'm expecting it probably means you'll be able to purchase it via Battle.net and simply download the title from your account management area, as per the beta....

    Halo Reach beta now available

Turn on your 360, throw in your Halo 3: ODST campaign disc and strap on your jetpack. Mepm dropped us a reminder on the forum that as of about 6 hours ago, while most of us were sleeping, the Halo: Reach beta went live! It only runs until May 19, so if you're a fan, don't waste anytime. Bungie sent a word of caution that "the download process may be subject to extended wait times. Server load is expected to be extremely high, especially during the first few hours and days of Beta availability. Please bear with us and stay tuned to Bungie.net for news and information."...

MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries re-released for free

Four days ago MekTek re-released MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries as a free download, after finally getting the green light from Microsoft to do so. They even made a number of improvements and fixes. Unfortunately, obtaining the 1.7GB installer proved problematic. And by problematic, I mean their site went down and you couldn't actually download it. Now though, it's back up, and you're free to go and grab it!...

For those without an Xbox 360 or who are unwilling to wait for the currently unannounced PlayStation 3 port, Splinter Cell: Conviction is now available for purchase on Steam. Apparently the prologue co-op campaign, who's characters are now featured in the GU banner, stretches an entire 8 hours from start to finish. Tasty....

  • Super Street Fighter IV available now

Super Street Fighter IV available now

In 2009 the fighting genre was revitalised as a single game inspired a new generation of players and recaptured the last. There's no doubting the significance and brilliance of Capcom's Street Fighter IV, but what's surprising is that its latest iteration, Super Street Fighter IV, is being hailed as something even better.

SSFIV has a meta review average of over 90 for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and after reading just a couple of the reviews it's not hard to see why. It's out today for $78 at EB Games, and the 'tournament manager' will be available for download on June 15th....

  • Mass Effect 3 review
    by cmdr_lynchie
The first two instalments of the Mass Effect series are widely considered to be some of the best games ever made. Certainly they rank among the greatest RPGs. With the outstanding quality of their story telling, and their stunning audio and visuals, they set the bar so high for the third instalment that some began to wonder if disappointment was inevitable. Thankfully the doubters have been proven wrong, as with Mass Effect 3 Bioware has not only cleared the bar, but they raised it several not...
