Eurogamer give it a much lower 8/10, however. "At its best FIFA 11 is enormous fun and brilliantly engineered, but in its battle to be more varied and realistic it has lost some of its momentum, and off the pitch returns are starting to diminish too." GameInformer sit themselves firmly in-between with an 8.75/10; "Soccer is a free-flowing game of creativity and skill, and I can experience that on the pitch in FIFA 11."
So, how has Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 compared? Not well, unfortunately. It has a meta-review average almost 10 points below that of FIFA 11. That's not to say there aren't positive reviews, however. IGN award it a 9/10, with this closing remark: "Some may prefer FIFA's more studied approach to football realism, but when it comes to pick-up-and-play fun and intensity, PES 2011 gets my vote this year."
Eurogamer Italy put it a little more bluntly with their 9/10, saying that "Although PES 2011 can't yet be defined as the best football game on the market, Konami has done a great job in laying the foundations for what seems to be a new course for the franchise." VideoGamer aren't that nice however, marking the game down as a lowly 7/10 but cushioning the blow with some empathic words; "PES 2011 is a good game. It's the best version of PES I've played on the Xbox 360 and PS3, and it's a step in the right direction - but it isn't a FIFA beater."
