  • Dust 514 will help and hurt EVE Online players

An interesting interview with Halldor Fannar, CTO at CCP, has been published at Ars Technica. The article disusses PS3 exclusive, Dust 514, and how its concurrent and persistent with EVE Online will impact players of the popular PC MMO. "PC players are really worried about what it could do, and how it could upset things," Fannar said, "but we need to energize the world by disrupting it every once in a while."

It is explained that the interactions between Dust 514 and EVE Online, as well as their consequences, run deep. In Dust 514 players are infantrymen playing from a first person perspective, and fit into the existing social structure of the universe; forming corporations which do indeed cross both EVE and Dust 514. Completing issued contracts feeds the economy, and aids in supporting increasingly capable corporations. In the future, it is planned that objectives will evolve into much larger events.

To read more, head on over to Ars for the entire article.

watch the market get flooded with PLExes when it drops, if you have any on you, should sell them before that happens

I cant see how Dust will affect PLEX market at all. I see some ISK been made from nothing (the new accounts) but majority of this will be spent by nubs - May get transffered to EvE toons but how will it make more PLEX's on the market to drive the price anywhere. People still have to shell out real cash to get their ISK. So if people are getting ISK for their FPS toon in Dust via plex. Hrm then maybe it will shake it up a bit but doubtfull that they will have the only way of making isk from real money is via plex if this game is released. I am thinking of a PSN points market or something.

yeah it MAY change, but i still think that's the most likely, particularly in the short term where there's fuckloads more players in space with shit tons of ISK vs the newbies on their new slumdog ground pounder accounts.
