Battlefield 3 preview: our beta impressions

The Battlefield 3 beta went live last night, for most people. I gave it a good romp on PC last night, and I'm pleased to say that my first impressions were mostly positive. I've decided to cover off some key points for those of you that haven't had a chance to play yet, or for those of you that have and are looking for an argument. First off, I think it's important to note that Origin - the application, not the service - isn't the devil like so many people were expecting. It's attractive, clean and i...

    Heroes of Neverwinter preview

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of Neverwinter is an upcoming game on the Facebook platform by Liquid Entertainment and Atari. Faithful to the Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition rules, Heroes of Neverwinter lets players build a character, explore a variety of dungeons, and even assist friends in their own quests and adventures. Duke Nukem Forever preview

Today we were lucky enough to get hands-on with Duke Nukem Forever, courtesy of Brisbane's Mana Bar. The gameplay period was slim, being the forthcoming DNF demo, comprised of two playable levels. They included included the football field shoot-out, as seen at Firstlook, as well as an American desert sequence which featured a 4x4 drive and some intense on-foot action at an enemy stronghold....

    Aliens vs Predator preview

So, the demo is out, and by now at least some of you will have had the opportunity to have a quick game. I imagine most of you are probably feeling something similar to me, which is disappointment. However, despite the multiplayer demos short comings I think there's some fun to look forward to with the retail release. First thing's first; turn on "Alien auto-transition" in the control options. My first minutes of the game were spent trying to cut my alien wrists, hopefully ending the pain in a p...

    Left 4 Dead 2 preview

I've just come out of a grueling five and a half hour L4D2 co-op marathon with some of GU's perennial members. My fingers hurt from cramping, my vision is furry and all I can hear is the bloody roars of roid-munching zombies. So, how did it go? You're thrown into The Parish, of which you'll play two chapters, and is the final campaign in the full game. We played through 'normal' and 'hard' (advanced) difficulties with some ease despite the improved AI, however most of our time was spent tryin...
