Computer Legend and Gaming Pioneer Jack Tramiel Dies at Age 83
Jack Tramiel, the man who started up Commodore, passed away on the weekend at age 83. Commodore bought us the PET, VIC-20 and C-64 amongst many others, with the VIC-20 being the first computer to ship 1,000,000 units. (suck on that apple fanbois) The C64 is the biggest selling home computer in history, and turns 30 in August this year
Jacks motto was that he was "building computers for the masses, not the classes".
I cut my teeth on a Commodore 64 (after sending the Atari 600XL back to the shops after 24 hours) and it's what got me in to the industry.
Thanks Jack. RIP.
