    It might be time to dust off those warp nacelles - STO 1.2 drops during maintenance tonight.

    I've been playing again the last few days and noticed the distinct absence of the old "multiple click to trigger any fucking thing" which was one of my biggest bug-bears.

    Tonight's update, though, tweaks the crap out of the game:

    Accolades

    Looking for more ways to challenge yourself in Star Trek Online? Do we have a system for you! The Accolades System is a brand new way to track your stats, show off your tactical skills and advance in Star Trek Online.
    Accolades in Star Trek Online are special missions that track various achievements throughout a player's career in the STO universe and unlock various rewards at certain milestones. Players can earn Accolades for many different actions, such as defeating a certain number of enemies from a certain species or faction, completing main storyline missions, dealing damage of a certain energy type and many more. There are hundreds of Accolades to earn, and we'll be adding more and more as we go!

    Squad Support

    Want to team up with a friend who's new to the game? You're in luck! In Season One: Update Two, we're happy to introduce the Squad Support System. Now, players of any level can team with each other using our special level scaling technology. This is a great way to spend time with your friends and fleetmates of differing levels, and to enjoy Star Trek Online in a brand new way.

    Quality Of Life Improvements

    We've scrubbed the game and made some fantastic changes to game balance, the Fleet system and more. At the top of the list is our revamp of the DPS and global cooldown system, as well as the introduction of a Fleet event calendar and a Fleet mail system. It's never been easier to find friends with whom to share Star Trek Online!
    A New And Improved C-Store

    Browsing the Cryptic Store in-game is about to become much, much more user-friendly. Now, the items you view as you browse will feature better descriptions and imagery, and we made it easier to buy Cryptic Points, too! Speaking of the C-Store ...
    Coming to the C-Store

    • Federation Ship Variant - The Comet, a cosmetic variant of the Luna class.
    • Additional Character Slots - A new four-pack of character slots at a discounted price!
    • Emote Pack II - Bow (Formal), Air Guitar, and Dance (Jester).
    don't be put off by the Quality of Life Improvements section only occupying a few lines of text - this forum thread has a comprehensive list of the changes to abilities and info on the fundamental change to how many now work.

    Escort captains *really* need to take note, our glass cannons may seem to have been nerfed, but the other changes like Aux power to structural integrity field now mean we don't NEED to get that kill with the first fusilade.

    the biggest thing here i think though, is that you can throw away your EPS consoles if you aren't constantly swapping power configurations - they no longer effect recharge between shots because *gasp* there isn't one anymore. Once a shot has fired your energy returns to its previous level instantly it's only chained shots that provide a constant drain now (beam fire at will and the cannon auto fire abilities).

    I'm looking forward to this - all accounts from the test server that i've read have been very favourable - even from the escort captains.

    lol - okay those of you who've got RA5 toons, log them in then go watch some TV or something - takes *ages* to assign all of your accolades.

        yeh i been waiting for 1.2 to happen they needed to work on a few things but looks like they have... once my nets back up and running i mite give it another shot... dust off my cruiser the USS:ZOMG-2 and get into it.

          will see you in there - ps: tried the new Terrordome strikeforce - fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck it's hard going. spent 6 hours on it and gave up in the final room because everyone went to bed.

          1.2 has made some nice changes though (and it seems the expected introduced bugs have been squashed already too) - the power handling sure makes a huge difference and, i could be wrong, but i think ground combat is over faster - hard to tell as i've only fought Undine with my RA5 and they're tough pricks either way.
