Scott McLaughlin has won his first digital V8 Supercars race after Tatts.com Racing's Mitchell McLeod jumped the start and had to serve a stop-and-go penalty. Scott, a driver in the Australian Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series and New Zealand V8 Touring Car Series, spoke highly of how iRacing is doing positive things for his ability in real racing.
During the post-race V8SOnline.com.au broadcast interview, Scott commented on behalf of fellow V8 driver Shane Van Gisbergen and himself explaining...

in NewsAustralian iRacers score sponsorship deal
Earning cash as a "pro gamer" isn't reserved just for StarCraft and Counter-Strike players, as two of Australia's best iRacing drivers have just finalised lucrative contracts with Tatts.com, a new website from the company who owns Tattersalls, Golden Casket, TattsBet.com and your local TAB. The article at the official V8 Supercars website says: "The online series continues to grow as a new team is announced for the upcoming fourth 2011 season in the V8 Supercars iRacing Series presented by BigPond,... -

in ReviewsF1 2011 review
F1 2011 is Codemasters' second officially licensed Formula 1 title, delivering a number of season oriented updates such KERS and DRS, as well as co-op multiplayer, 16 human grid places in online races and the introduction of the safety car. The question on everyone's mind is: are these improvements enough to warrant another $50 purchase just 12 months after the excellent F1 2010? I've had a bit of a system upgrade since last year and to my pleasant surprise F1 2011 was very accommodating. Without any... -

in XboxF1 2011 dev diary covers safety car, DRS, KERS
I wasn't too sure about an F1 2011 purchase, with concerns about how different or how much of an improvement it could be over 2010. But, the demonstration of new feature inclusions such as DRS, KERS and the safety car have secured my $50. This final video developer diary for F1 2011 features Senior Producer Paul Jeal and Chief Games Designer Stephen Hood, talking about those aforementioned season updates.
F1 2011 will be available on Steam come September 22nd.

in NewsiRacing 2.0 has arrived
With 2011 Season 3 of the world's premier online racing sim series comes its latest major iteration; iRacing 2.0. The biggest feature of the new release is the new tire model, or "NTM", delivering remarkably authentic performance. The NTM is now installed on a number of cars including the Ford GT and Skip Barber F2000. It's expected we'll see the NTM rolled out across all cars during the course of this season. V8 Supercar driver Shane Van Gisbergen has been working closely with the iRacing tea... -

in XboxDriver San Francisco's first dev diary appears
Reflections have released their first developer diary for Driver San Francisco, which explains the franchise history and the characters we'll encounter. The return to roots racer will feature open city driving and aims to appease the fans who loved the original so very much. I'll be honest; I'm a little underwhelmed. But I'm still keen as mustard to see more, and get stuck into the latest instalment myself on September 1st.

in NewsF1 2011's debut developer diary has arrived
It sounds like the guys at Codemasters have made huge bounds with F1 2011 over its predecessor, and they talk of a greater emphasis on multiplayer. This means 16 cars online, split-screen for the lounge room and a co-op season. Hopefully it also means there'll be some client-server checks upon connection, so cheaters can't conveniently run rampant again. To see it for yourself, click play on the video embed.

in PlayStationTwisted Metal gameplay from E3 2011
I've been quietly skeptical about the potential quality and success of the Twisted Metal reboot since its announcement. That was until I saw some gameplay from E3 2011. The Indie development scene as well as mobile gaming boom have delivered refreshing reminders that games can still just be "fun" without needing to be deep or complex - and Twisted Metal looks to hit the spot. Embedded is some gameplay and an interview with creator; David Jaffe... -

Straight from the stages of E3 is a beautiful new trailer for the highly anticipated Forza Motorsport 4. Shame about the soundtrack, but let's focus on some of the nifty features which are highlighted, such as Kinect head-tracking. It's due for release on October 14, 2011... -

in NewsNeed for Speed: Hot Pursuit reaches Steam
Weeks after actual release, those of you hanging out for a Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit on Steam finally get your wish. It's now available for purchase via the popular digital distribution platform, priced at a reasonable AUD $49.99. If you're a fan of DLC, be aware that Criterion don't intend to release any of the additional content that is being made available for consoles, so a purchase on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 may still be your best bet.... -

If that sounds good to you, get watching! And stay tuned for our very own review in coming days... -

in PlayStationGran Turismo 5 midnight launches and cheapest prices
Gran Turismo 5 is out tomorrow. Yes, seriously. Pinch yourself. Although, you should be warned that once you have the game, there's a 133mb patch to download, and then an hour long install thereafter. Thankfully functionality has been built in so you can play while it installs, but that patch you're just going to have to sit there and wait for. Inconveniences aside, let's move onto the topic of this article and have a look at where you should be buying this console generation's most anticipated racer....
