Mass Effect 3 has gone gold!

I'm sure there are many sci-fi inspired pants-tent parties in at least a few computer rooms as I write this: Mass Effect 3 has gone gold ahead of its March 9 release. And that is of course confirmation there be no further delay and we'll all be playing as Shepard very shortly. If you're not sure what going 'gold' is, it simply means the game is finished and is ready to be written to discs for distribution. Joy....

Mass Effect 3 won't make it to Steam

It looks like we're stuck with another Origin exclusive for the third instalment of the massively popular Mass Effect franchise. Being released on March 8, BioWare has made the announcement that the game will be available through EA's Origin service and a number of third-party retailers, but due to "restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to deliver patches and other downloadable content" we won't see it on Steam. "We are intent on providing Mass Effect to players with the best po...

BioWare announce Command & Conquer: Generals 2

Generals was perhaps the most impressive Command & Conquer title since the days of Red Alert, so it's fitting that a sequel to Generals was chosen for the franchise hand-over to BioWare Victory. Generals 2 is set for a PC release in 2013 and is powered by Battlefield 3's Frostbite 2.0 engine. The official blurb sets the tone: "World leaders are mere seconds away from signing a peace treaty and bringing an end to a global war when a devastating terrorist attack rips through the conference, killing everyone in attendance, leaving only the world's military superpowers...

BioWare confirms Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, will affect single player

Perhaps the worst kept secret of the impending Mass Effect 3 release is that it will include a multiplayer component. This rumour has now been confirmed by BioWare who inform us that we can expect some 4-player co-op action with the franchise's next instalment, titled "Galaxy at War". In it, you'll be able to create and develop a unique character and explore the Mass Effect universe with friends. Characters won't be limited to humans either, so if you feel the need to roll-out as a Turian, Krogan or Asari you can do just that. The entirely ...

There was plenty of murmurs at E3 2011 about BioWare's interest in multiplayer, even in regards to the Mass Effect universe. Mass Effect 3 has been delayed until March 2012, but Bioware assure us the delay will be worth it.
