Oh my, what a disappointment Aliens vs Predator has been. I posted my negative thoughts on the multiplayer demo prior to release, and since then I've had a chance to try out all of the other game modes - unfortunately my opinion has not been bettered.

The game is selling well, though. It has taken top spot on the UK charts, and is moving a good number of units in other regions too. There's a truth beyond the sales statistics, though......

There's probably a lull of enthusiasm since the disappointing Aliens vs Predator demo, but all reviews point toward it being a solid title despite that. For those that have pre-purchased on Steam, the game is now available for download globally - ahead of the Steam 'countdown' date. However, as mentioned, there are no dedicated servers yet - with any luck they'll be along shortly....

In the wake of the PC community's Modern Warfare 2 backlash, Rebellion made it very clear that dedicated servers were on their Aliens vs Predator development agenda. It was then quite strange then, even disheartening, that they decided to provide only a peer-to-peer match-making option for their demo release.

What's more is that AVP is now available in the United States, and there are still no dedicated servers. The files required for hosts to run them haven't been distributed, or even finalised it seems. This has garnered a huge "w-t-f" from the community, and it looks like we're stuck with single player until Rebellion pull their finger out......

I wasn't alone with my Aliens vs Predator demo disappointment. Rebellion got the message loud and clear, unfortunately, they just don't see eye-to-eye with their fans.

Haven't tried the Aliens vs Predator demo yet? After my rather negative review, I wouldn't blame you. But, maybe now's the time. Sega has distributed a press release, apologising for the appauling match-making service quirks - you know, like simply not being able to find a game. They're insisting that unprecedented and unexpected demand was the source of the problems......

So, the demo is out, and by now at least some of you will have had the opportunity to have a quick game. I imagine most of you are probably feeling something similar to me, which is disappointment. Around about 12 hours ago I posted of Aliens vs Predator's imminent demo release at some stage today. Aegis, GU forum member, points out that it's now on Steam, ready to download. What are you waiting for? Get on it!

Rumors hit the internet not longer than 12 hours ago, but now we have confirmation. An Aliens vs Predator multiplayer demo is set for release on Xbox Live, Steam and PSN within an approximate 24 hours of now. It's a multiplayer demo, and will grant access to all three species - the Colonial Marine, the Predator and the Alien. Somewhat unfortunately is that the only mode will be vanilla Deathmatch, on Refinery, one of the game's multiplayer maps......

If you're keen to find out more about what to expect from Aliens vs Predator multiplayer, then you're in for a treat. Aside from 4-player co-op, there are 7 other modes available to choose from. 'Infestation' and 'Predator Hunt' sound like the most fun from my perspective. Earlier this morning I reported on Steam pre-orders for Aliens vs Predator and Bioshock 2. It seems Australian gamers are being royally ripped-off once again.
