I'm not sure exactly where to start, or how to say it nicely, so I'll start with a very blunt statement and continue to explain why thereafter: Brink is a disappointment. That's not to say it's an entirely bad game, but for me the bad far outweighs the good....

We're just 4 hours away from the release of Brink in the USA, and Bethesda has released a launch trailer to whet your appetite - if you weren't already excited enough. This trailer, along with a heap of gameplay, looks a little closer at the plot that explains your purpose amidst the civil war on The Ark...

For anyone who lives in Brisbane and is keen to check out Brink prior to its official Australian release date, Mana Bar is your destination. Tomorrow night, Wednesday the 11th of May, they're putting on an 'open to the public' Brink preview event. Doors open at 5pm, so get in early if you're not interested in lining up as the venue is about the size of a walk-in wardrobe....

Brink is merely a week away. It's one of two big shooter releases I'm looking forward to this year, the other is unsurprisingly Battlefield 3. Most pleasingly, it was recently revealed how we'd get to play Brink multiplayer on the PC, and that's via cost free dedicated servers! The official statement from Splash Damage follows.....

Splash Damage have delivered another trailer to the army of Brink fans and hopefuls, this time showcasing the game's combat roles as they fight amidst the Arc's security tower. Have a gawk, and also have a read of the just-released list of goodies you'll be treated to as pre-order bonuses...

Brink is merely months away from its Australian Autumn release window, and unashamedly is my most anticipated multiplayer shooter of the last half decade. Splash Damage have finally produced another trailer, this time showcasing a selection of Brink's vast arsenal, titled "A Choir of Guns". It's cool! But don't take my word for it, check it out yourself.....

Brink is now available for pre-purchase on Steam, priced at $49.99 USD. By throwing down some cash early, you'll get a bunch of exclusive customisation options. Expect guns, weapon attachments, combat clothing and tattoo's to flaunt while shooting and sliding, right before somersaulting and shooting some more.

While not in game, this Brink cinematic is a fantastic CG look at the gameplay and intense action the team is aiming to capture with their forthcoming sci-fi shooter. Hopefully the team that brought us Enemy Territory has more luck with this interesting shooter than they did Quake Wars...

Perhaps inadvertently, a Gamestop sweepstakes promotion is the first sign of an 'official' Brink release date. Given that the promo is in conjunction with Bethesda - they even updated their blog talking about it - I guess we can safely expect the game on September 7th, 2010......

Another feature-trailer for Splash Damage's Brink has been released. This time we're presented with a showcase of the options that we can expect when creating our character. There isn't much about this game that doesn't seem well thought-out, and this is no exception. I especially like the idea of your choices effecting your performance in-game, such as a body size. The lucky chaps over at Eurogamer have had the privilege of sitting down with Splash Damage founder, Paul Wedgwood, to talk about their highly anticipated upcoming title; Brink. It touches on topics such as their unique anti-griefing agenda, dedicated server support and gameplay accessibility... For me, though, some of the most exiting notes were about the interaction mechanics; "The game will intelligently navigate obstacles like barriers when you pelt towards them" it's explained in ...

The footage you're about to watch is actually part of the game's preview, demonstrated at this year's E3 event. Finally, though, we get to see some of it for ourselves. Better yet, it showcases what I consider perhaps the most interesting feature; "SMART". It's the feature that enables seamless movement throughout the landscape, ala Mirror's Edge - as I mentioned in a previous post.....
