    F1 2011 review

F1 2011 is Codemasters' second officially licensed Formula 1 title, delivering a number of season oriented updates such KERS and DRS, as well as co-op multiplayer, 16 human grid places in online races and the introduction of the safety car. The question on everyone's mind is: are these improvements enough to warrant another $50 purchase just 12 months after the excellent F1 2010? I've had a bit of a system upgrade since last year and to my pleasant surprise F1 2011 was very accommodating. Without any...

F1 2011 dev diary covers safety car, DRS, KERS

I wasn't too sure about an F1 2011 purchase, with concerns about how different or how much of an improvement it could be over 2010. But, the demonstration of new feature inclusions such as DRS, KERS and the safety car have secured my $50. This final video developer diary for F1 2011 features Senior Producer Paul Jeal and Chief Games Designer Stephen Hood, talking about those aforementioned season updates.

F1 2011 will be available on Steam come September 22nd.

F1 2011's debut developer diary has arrived

It sounds like the guys at Codemasters have made huge bounds with F1 2011 over its predecessor, and they talk of a greater emphasis on multiplayer. This means 16 cars online, split-screen for the lounge room and a co-op season. Hopefully it also means there'll be some client-server checks upon connection, so cheaters can't conveniently run rampant again. To see it for yourself, click play on the video embed.

BioWare latest target in hacking spree

You're undoubtedly aware, if you're a keen participant of any gaming forum or online games service, that there has been a sharp spike in security breaches over the past few weeks. The biggest is of course the PlayStation Network, but since then we've seen attacks on Codemasters, Minecraft, EVE Online, The Escapist and Bethesda. BioWare is the next victim on the list with 18,000 user accounts on the Neverwinter Nights forum hacked....

    F1 2010 review

Formula 1 is the most popular motorsport on the planet, and once upon a time Formula 1 games were a very big deal too. Many would argue that the quality and love for F1 titles has lulled over the last three quarters of a decade, but Codemasters aim to change that, promising an exciting revitalisation....

    F1 2010 unlocks on Steam

Earlier than expected, F1 2010 has unlocked on Steam for Australian racers. It looks tremendous, leaps and bounds better than the PlayStation 3, and it's a bundle cheaper. If you're a motorsport fan and didn't get in on the pre-order discount, don't fret, it's still just $60 USD. Oh, and don't forget to have a look at GU's Monday Night Racing tournament with a TrackIR package up for grabs.

DiRT 3 debut trailer explodes out of the X Games

Codemasters haven't been shy about hyping DiRT 3; they assure us it's going to blow your freaking minds. And if the benchmarks that the first two set are anything to go by, I believe them. The third in the series has just been teased for the very first time on ESPN's X Games coverage a few hours ago, so here it is for you to check out. ...

DLC the way of the future?

If you've ever felt that game you bought recently felt unfinished, 'then there's probably some basis to those thoughts. It seems that might be the trend for games to come. Comments from both Codemasters and Namco Bandai in recent weeks point to the companies looking to sell 'incomplete' games with consumers then having to purchase additional content and/or monthly fees.

  • International Cricket 2010 announced

    International Cricket 2010 announced

You know what was awesome? Ashes 2009 from Transmission was awesome. Except on the PC, where it was junk, because there were deal-breaker bugs that never got addressed after the studio went bust. But aside from that, it was awesome.

I guess that's why Codemasters has now announced International Cricket 2010, but it's not being released on the PC. Being developed by Australia's Trickstar games, who apparently have key members from the aforementioned but now disbanded studio, we can expect the game later this year on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Press release after the jump......
