Yesterday we reported on a breaking story that EA Games had removed Crysis 2 from Steam, in an effort to muscle customers across to their own digital distribution platform; Origin. It turns out that's not exactly the case; apparently "Crytek has an agreement with another download service" which infringed upon a recently imposed set of Steam business terms, and resulted in the "expulsion" of Crysis 2 from Steam, EA told Giant Bomb....

The wait is over, unless you illegally acquired the leaked beta, in which case yours was over a little while ago. For the rest of us law abiding citizens, EA have now made the official Crysis 2 demo available to download! If you're an Xbox 360 owner, simply mosey on over to the Marketplace. Another big title, and another big kick in the pants for Aussie gamers. Crysis 2 has just been made available for pre-purchase on Steam. Our price down-under is AUD $70, while those in the UK can snap it up for just 30 pounds - that's AUD $48. With the game already leaked and being downloaded by hundreds of thousands of potential buyers, you really would have thought they would have attempted to make the purchase a little more compelling....

The official Crysis 2 website is about to be relaunched - probably within hours of writing this article. Once its "maximum upgrade" is complete, the opportunity to secure access to the now confirmed beta program will be made available.
