Finally, Batman: Arkham City recieves its desperately needed PC patch via Steam auto-update, fixing the crippling DirectX 11 performance issues that most people with a relatively new video card have been expieriencing. "We have just released a patch for Batman: Arkham City PC that provides fixes a variety of DX 11 issues, as well as fixes for a few other non-DX 11 related issues." Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition trailer and release date

As far as the franchise goes, Street Fighter III remains the best in the series thus far as far as I'm concerned. So, unsurprisingly, I'm a little excited about the forthcoming Online Edition of Third Strike, which has now been scheduled for an August 24 release. It's the highest-budget download game from the studio working on it, and when you consider the feature list below that's not hard to believe.
    • GGPO Netcode
    • "Arcade-perfect" gameplay
    • New Trials mode
    • Hundreds of challenges
    • Enhanced

    New Mortal Combat characters discovered

Mortal Kombat's reboot is looking mighty fine. If you're following its development, you'll be interested to hear that numerous sound bytes from the game have been leaked, accidentally revealing a slew of additional combatants. I'm sure you've heard of Ermac, Goro, Human Sektor, Kabal, Noob Saibot, Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, Sindel, Smoke and Stryker. None are officially confirmed, but game assets are about as close to confirmation as it gets. ...

Robbers target games cafe, get beat-up

Have you ever been to Hawaii? I hear they have some pretty crazy gamers. A trio of would-be robbers are testament to that claim, having been beaten up by a group of customers at a games cafe in Kaneohe just last week. Three masked assailants stormed the cafe collecting money from patrons, but when they asked one gamer to hand over his Nintendo DS, a line in the sand was drawn. SHORYUKEN! ...

    Mortal Kombat game trailer released

So, there is a new Mortal Kombat game on the way after all, despite that "Rebirth" trailer having nothing to do with it. This sequel is being developed by NetherRealm Studios (comprised of Midway alumni) and will be released on Q4 2010 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. You know what? It looks awesome....

    Mortal Kombat

No information on what exactly this is has been revealed. Is it an extended move trailer, or is it a fan-made short film? Neither, is what the murmur around film sites suggest. What we're probably looking at is a live-action trailer for the next installment of the Mortal Kombat game series. If this is the case, there's no doubt we'll hear about it at the fast-approaching E3 expo.

OzHadou and EVO tournament qualifiers in full swing

If you fancy yourself a bit of a fighter, and have been giving Super Street Fighter IV a good run-in, then you should probably get involved with one of the OzHadou tournament qualifiers running in your state during May. Brisbane's OzHadou final will be held at Australia's first and recently opened gaming lounge, Mana Bar, this Monday from 5pm. Even if you're not playing, come along for a drink and the spectacle. Head on over to OzHadou's tournament announcement forum for a full event listing and all of the details.

If the international spotlight is more your thing, there's always Evolution Asia-Pacific in Sydney in the final weekend of the month. You may even land yourself a paid flight to Las Vegas to represent the APAC region in SSF4 at EVO 2010. Of course, that's only if you like your chances going up against 2009 world champion, Daigo, who's flying to Sydney to compete in the same EVO APAC qualifying round. If you're not sure who Daigo is, view the video embed for a look at his most famous fight moment. Daigo fights as Ken in the clip, and you should pay close attention to his starting health and the fact it's a deciding round....

  • Super Street Fighter IV available now

Super Street Fighter IV available now

In 2009 the fighting genre was revitalised as a single game inspired a new generation of players and recaptured the last. There's no doubting the significance and brilliance of Capcom's Street Fighter IV, but what's surprising is that its latest iteration, Super Street Fighter IV, is being hailed as something even better.

SSFIV has a meta review average of over 90 for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and after reading just a couple of the reviews it's not hard to see why. It's out today for $78 at EB Games, and the 'tournament manager' will be available for download on June 15th....

Super Street Fighter IV to deliver arcade-style tournaments

One of the biggest disappoints with Street Fighter IV was the match-making options for online multiplayer. It seems Capcom have been listening, and are set to deliver a much needed and welcomed revamp with Super Street Fighter IV. They've dubbed it the 'tournament manager', and any player can host a tournament. You can even setup a console to host a tournament without participating in it......
