For anyone who lives in Brisbane and is keen to check out Brink prior to its official Australian release date, Mana Bar is your destination. Tomorrow night, Wednesday the 11th of May, they're putting on an 'open to the public' Brink preview event. Doors open at 5pm, so get in early if you're not interested in lining up as the venue is about the size of a walk-in wardrobe....

    Duke Nukem Forever preview

Today we were lucky enough to get hands-on with Duke Nukem Forever, courtesy of Brisbane's Mana Bar. The gameplay period was slim, being the forthcoming DNF demo, comprised of two playable levels. They included included the football field shoot-out, as seen at Firstlook, as well as an American desert sequence which featured a 4x4 drive and some intense on-foot action at an enemy stronghold....

Mana Bar takes gaming and drinking along the East coast

Only 5 months ago did Australia's first gaming bar, Mana Bar, launch in Brisbane. I live a mere 30 seconds walk around the corner, and pass it each and every day to and from the train station. Unsurprisingly to me, it's always packed. The screens light up the bar with animated gaming ambiance and the button-mashing can be heard from the street.

OzHadou and EVO tournament qualifiers in full swing

If you fancy yourself a bit of a fighter, and have been giving Super Street Fighter IV a good run-in, then you should probably get involved with one of the OzHadou tournament qualifiers running in your state during May. Brisbane's OzHadou final will be held at Australia's first and recently opened gaming lounge, Mana Bar, this Monday from 5pm. Even if you're not playing, come along for a drink and the spectacle. Head on over to OzHadou's tournament announcement forum for a full event listing and all of the details.

If the international spotlight is more your thing, there's always Evolution Asia-Pacific in Sydney in the final weekend of the month. You may even land yourself a paid flight to Las Vegas to represent the APAC region in SSF4 at EVO 2010. Of course, that's only if you like your chances going up against 2009 world champion, Daigo, who's flying to Sydney to compete in the same EVO APAC qualifying round. If you're not sure who Daigo is, view the video embed for a look at his most famous fight moment. Daigo fights as Ken in the clip, and you should pay close attention to his starting health and the fact it's a deciding round....

The Escapist's Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, partnered with 3 others, is opening a video game bar in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.
