All the way back at the start of November, we wrote about Activision's all-kinds-of-excellent "There's A Soldier In All Of us" live-action Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer. In it, we saw a bunch of names plastered on weapons, such as Jimmy Kimmel's "PROUD n00b" and Kobe Bryant's "MAMBA". We also spotted "SSG TRAN", and after some digging had come to the conclusion that it was a tribute to a Staff Sergeant Tran, killed in action during 2009. How wrong we were!

The SSG Tran actually featured in the trailer, Thom Tran, stopped by the forums to clear things up and gave us a quick run-down on his involvement. So while he was here, we thought we might as well flesh out the details of his involvement with Black Ops. Don't be surprised if it feels like you already know him very well - you've been shooting him for the last fortnight!

Medal of Honor is now available, and despite a seemingly unfixed multiplayer experience from closed beta, to open beta and into retail, the game is still garnering some attention. The game is $69.95 USD on the Australian Steam store, but if you're not interested in the seemingly cookie-cutter online experience, will the single player campaign justify the purchase?...

Directed by Linkin Park's Joe Hahn, "The Catalyst" is the latest trailer for DICE's first Medal of Honor set outside of WWII. It's a mix of live action and gameplay, featuring some never seen before in-game footage. If you like the song, it too is called "The Catalyst" and is from Link Park's soon to be released album, A Thousand Suns. If you're like what you see from Medal of Honor, it's out October 12. ...

We've known very little about the development of Battlefield 3, and have heard nothing at all about it since this time last year when its existence was officially confirmed. Now though, we know that there are plans for a beta. The short end of the stick is that to play in the beta, you'll need to purchase a Limited Edition version of EA's soon-to-be released Medal of Honor.

For those that haven't yet had the pleasure - or displeasure, depending on your impressions - of playing the Medal of Honor beta, many of you now will. Anyone who presently owns Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on Steam now has access. Be sure to post your thoughts on it, if you feel as strongly one way or the other as we did.

Afghanistan it is, as rumor previously suggested. It promises "the most authentic modern war experience", and will hit shelves fall 2010.
