Many of us will likely be waiting for years for fibre to reach our suburbs, but we won't be forced into cowering helplessly while our peers flaunt their massive download speeds on Australia's new fibre infrastructure. Surprisingly, that's thanks to Telstra Bigpond - a phrase not often spoken. Melbournites have had access to Telstra's 100Mbps "Ultimate Cable" service since March, but as of December all other cable-connected capitals will be able to jump aboard the service as well. Merely a fortnight ago one of Australia's most renowned development studios, Team Bondi, went into receivership. Now there's news of another Australian studio closure, that of Melbourne's Visceral Games, an Electronic Arts subsidiary. A source has told Kotaku that Patrick Soderland, EA vice president, had concluded that the an in-development 360 title would not be profitable, deciding to can the project and the studio.
