Reflections have released their first developer diary for Driver San Francisco, which explains the franchise history and the characters we'll encounter. The return to roots racer will feature open city driving and aims to appease the fans who loved the original so very much. I'll be honest; I'm a little underwhelmed. But I'm still keen as mustard to see more, and get stuck into the latest instalment myself on September 1st.

An official Tweet by @GhostRecon reveals that we can expect a Ghost Recon: Future Soldier multiplayer beta early in the new year: "We know you have been asking about the beta. We're excited to announce that the MP beta will be launching in January 2012!" No details on platform nor participation qualification were revealed at this stage. Here is 6 minutes of action from Assassin's Creed Revelations. It certainly looks like more of the same, but hey, if it's not broken, don't fix it. Far Cry 3 has been officially announced by Ubisoft at E3 2011, and with that comes the first every gameplay footage showcased during their press conference at the event. AusGamers were there, and had this to say about it; "We walked out of this short introduction to Far Cry 3 very excited. It looks to be taking the game back to its roots, but with more character and more flair. The island is apparently huge, and open, to boot....

Driver was all kinds of excellent. Unfortunately, it was all down-hill after that. It appears as though Ubisoft are keen to recapture what was once great, showing off a new live-action teaser trailer showcasing the "garage stunts checklist" that was required by players to complete back when the series began. Ahh, nostalgia! Let's hope they get it right....

The co-op goodness just keeps on flowing! There has been a spate of titles in recent times delivering support, and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 is now on that band-wagon. The entire campaign is playable with friends, up to four players in total - as well an adversarial multiplayer mode with up to 8 players.....

Also out of the bag during a Ubisoft investors call is confirmation that a multiplayer beta can be expected for the third installment of Assassin's Creed, titled Brotherhood, which is due for release later in the year. "We will have a beta test. We have not announced a date yet but it is part of the plans....

It was said during a recent Ubisoft investors call that fifty percent of video games will be 3D within a couple of years. FIFTY!? That seems like a rather large percentage, but it's important to keep in mind they're talking about 3D 'enabled' games, and probably not the ones that actually put effort into making the experience worthwhile...

Having trouble with performance playing Splinter Cell Conviction with an older graphcis card? How about playing it at all with a brand new GTX400-series? Or is it simply that you wanted to use an Xbox 360 controller but the button mapping is all out of whack?

Whatever your your problem with Conviction's PC release, you might soon have better luck. Ubisoft have just sent out patch 1.02 addressing those issues, and others. But no, they haven't patched out their despised DRM, so expect more problems in that department. Hit the jump for the full list......

Dust off those flight sticks! Ubisoft is taking another stab at the flight sim genre with a follow-up to its well-received Tom Clany's HAWX. The sequel will land late this year on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and PC. Stay tuned for more details as they arrive....

For those without an Xbox 360 or who are unwilling to wait for the currently unannounced PlayStation 3 port, Splinter Cell: Conviction is now available for purchase on Steam. Apparently the prologue co-op campaign, who's characters are now featured in the GU banner, stretches an entire 8 hours from start to finish. Tasty....

For those without an Xbox 360 and who are unwilling to wait for a PS3 release, you can now pre-purchase Splinter Cell: Conviction via Steam. By grabbing the Deluxe Edition you get Infiltration Mode, Shadow Armor and 3 additional weapons. Regardless of what version you purchase, you'll also receive a copy of the original Splinter Cell which you can keep for yourself or gift to a friend. The game unlocks in just over a week....

News.com.au is reporting that "Splinter Cell Evolution launched", and backfired. Which is of course is Splinter Cell: Conviction to journalists without the faintest actual interest in the games industry. The backfiring part is quite correct however, but looking at the scenario it could have never not have. Genius marketers hired to handle the launch of this Ubisoft title thought it would be a good idea to have an actor dress up as Sam Fisher and storm a pub with a fake pistol......

Xbox 360 owners are currently playing Splinter Cell: Conviction. In 10 days, PC gamers will be too. For the longest time, Conviction has been dubbed an Xbox 360 exclusive in the console world. Last month however, a Ubisoft Montreal developer listed a PlayStation 3 version of the title on his resume. And now, you can search Ubisoft support topics for a PS3 version of Conviction too......
