Brink is merely a week away. It's one of two big shooter releases I'm looking forward to this year, the other is unsurprisingly Battlefield 3. Most pleasingly, it was recently revealed how we'd get to play Brink multiplayer on the PC, and that's via cost free dedicated servers! The official statement from Splash Damage follows.....

Update: it turns out that SSG Tran isn't the one assumed. This SSG Tran stopped by the forums to let us know that he's alive and well. He's a retired US Army Staff Sergeant, now working in Hollywood as a military consultant for Dagger Media Group & Sacred Sword. He and others he worked with are in fact avatars and playable characters in the game. Every so often a trailer is released that leaves you not just excited about the forthcoming film, game or product, but genuinely impressed with the trailer itself. This Call of Duty: Black Ops live action trailer delivers one of those rare moments, and thrones itself as an instant classic. I might just go ahead and watch it again. Oh, did I mention it features Kobe Bryant?...

For those who haven't yet heard of Firefall, it's probably about time. The game is a persistant world mmo, shooter, role playing game, and it has the GU community rather excited. It's being developed by Red 5, a studio built around people who previously worked on Tribes and World of Warcraft. What we're probably looking at is a live-action trailer for the next installment of the Mortal Kombat game series. If this is the case, there's no doubt we'll hear about it at the fast-approaching E3 expo.

Keen to see some Fallout: New Vegas gameplay footage? IGN have delivered. Unfortunately you have to put up with their awful previewer talking over it. While I'm liking the sound of New Vegas, what with all of the interesting changes and all, I can't say this footage impressed me at all. Has this dampened your anticipation for the game as well...
