There is a good australian, professionally run UO shard called Oceania.2k. I suggest anyone who plays UO, or wants to, to come check it out. The old playerbase has left though now the shard is updating and changing scripts often.
As of this moment it is based loosely on 1999 OSI, with crafting systems being updated to a newer period, so that we have the best of both worlds. Skills gain twice as fast, possibly more, pre-casting, insta-hit, no trammel/ilshenar/malas. The more people come along, the more influence they will have over what changes are made. Goto the forums to suggest any features/report bugs. Currently looking for a new host, though the current host should be fine to hold players for now.
This shard has the potential to be the best Australian shard, if the playerbase increases. Since it is professionally run, no players will have an advantage by knowing any staff members, and I believe this can make or break a shard.
I hope to see some of you there. It's also good to see some familar names from CS :D

And yeah that is true, UO sucks now. But I'm talking about OSI's UO where you're paying money for a game like EQ/SB/AC. But this is not OSI, you don't need to pay for this shard, though there are a few players who are helping out with money when they find a new host. The shard is run on the best emulator out there, RunUO. There's no 3000 different ores, it's based from around pub 16, though if anyone wants anything changed, post your requests on the forums. Since this is a community I was involved with I'll try my best to add those features. Once UO is installed on your computer you simply need to patch to the latest client, either use UORice/UOGateway to login to the server. Connecting issues can be sorted over at their website.
Please don't be immature and criticize something you haven't seen. By all means, jump in game and have a look at the shard, then you can give us all the crap you like. Until then, don't knock something you haven't tried.

It's free. I've been on it, was alright but was heaps laggy at the time even when 20 of us where only playing, tho that was awhile ago and they might of gotten a better host

I've had people ask me this question so many times it's not funny. On a player-run shard, you will never need to pay money to play on it.
If you guys wanna say it's crap, it's laggy, then STFU. I don't see you contributing to anything such as this, if you do contribute to something, you don't see me going around saying how horribly wrong something is with your choice. If you don't wanna play it, don't. Other people are providing the service for you, we are looking for a new host, without being paid, and will be spending our own money to pay for it. If you're not happy getting this service for free, try-out living exactly like an ethiopian child. Then you'll see how much you take for granted.
I'm sorry if you all don't appreciate what some people do for online gaming communities, but frankly it makes me feel better. Apart from when immature people go around saying "this sucks, that sucks" when they have no idea as to what effort it actually takes to be involved in something like this. Some people think CS sucks, some people think poetry sucks, some people think rowing sucks. You know what, there are people out there who like some of this stuff, and you're driving them away. I can't believe I'm wasting my time...
To the people that are interested, I'm not sure exactly what to tell you, unless I know exactly what feature of the shard you want to know about, and I'm not the owner of the shard, though I'll try run over the main features:
Not based on the current OSI version of UO but loosely based on a few periods such as pub 16. So there's one land (felucca & T2A), crafting based on current OSI period, insta-hit, pre-casting, chaos/order (factions aren't scripted yet), fast skill gains (don't need to spend a lot of time to PvP), spawns similar to 2000 OSI, Bulk Order Deeds & rewards are in, changes are being made everyday. The owner is working on the shard as much as possible, which I am involved in a few scripting jobs, and helping out with information about older version's of OSI.
Remember anything that you want added, may be possible. Suggest it over at the forums.
wicked sounds a bit better then oceania :P no tram so we can kill people like the old days how many poeple are playing on the servers regulary? ilol go check out the forums after school and get UO installed and check it out for myself :D
As I said, the playerbase has died, though there are a few regular players, basically me and my mates. There have been 2-3 new people playing everyday aswell, and the old players are going to come back after a few more people come in, and to duel me :)
Basically it's going to be growing again, and whoever starts playing now will have a little time to build their character, before the old playerbase comes back.
As I have previously said in past statements, you don't have to pay to play on the shard I've mentioned, though you still need to pay if you want to play on OSI's servers.

As of this moment it is auto-account so anyone is allowed to join, though accounts are monitored to make sure people aren't using more than one account. This may change at a later date. By all means invite your friends.
There's huge plans to switch to a new host or get a new connection, so if anyone knows of a good host, please inform me.
