Latest cd rom install is Win XP sp1a .... and guess what, not a single thing for java... (Microsoft VM is gone)
Best bit is java from sun has problems downloading automatically into this version of windows, (no surprise there)
You need to end up installing manually and downloading the full offline install version of suns Java engine. (15 meg)
Just letting those that get a new puta, or software, know that you could have a problem trying to run java scripts.
After a bit of research you will find that microsoft and Sun are fighting it out and Microsoft cant sell windows xp with microsoft vm (microsofts java)
Yeah I know, tis gay, I can;t remember how the argument started between them but it's a royal pain in the arse either way. The stupid thing is, sun will let you download the thing for Java support for free, so I don't know what the big deal is, they both need a slapping :x
My dad's IE is having major java problems. No javascripts are working at all! Can't use hotmail, can't use some buttone, some menus and forms don't work - JAVA is dead!
I have installed the manual JAVA 2 runitime crap from the java site: (j2re-1_4_2_01-windows-i586.exe)
as well as attempting the automatic download crap from the java site.
Nothing has worked! I've enabled and disabled EVERYTHING in IE to try to get java working - gah!

First up, Javascript and Java are two totally different things, they may have similar names, but they are completely different.
Now, go to Internet Options, then Security. Click on Internet, and click on Default Level.
Next, click on the Advanced tab, then click on Default Settings.
Then, go to General, and then Delete Files.
After all that, try something like Hotmail that has Javascript. Should work fine. If it doesn't, go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, then go to Internet Explorer, and use the Repair option.
