Went and saw it last night, best comic based film so far. Oh and they need spell check for the credits :lol:
Better still, they've left it open for a sequel, won't spoil it for you but it looks like they've got plans for another :D

Look, I know it was based on a comic book, but I still struggled to suspend my disbelief. A lot of it looked fake. Shabbily "18-year-old-with-3D Studio Max" fake, rather than "I didn't notice the CGI at all" fake.
Zipping through Venice, for instance, just looked ... fake.
Also, the scenes on the conning tower of the submarine bore no relation to the usual rules of motion. They'd talk, background still. Then a CGI longshot with them moving at speed. Ya-huh.
Even the red herrings were alarmingly unable to misdirect me, which as anyone can tell you is very rare.
I know having thin plots has been au fait for 20 years now, but most movies give it a bit of a stab. This one sort of thrashed around a lot, taking meticulous care to mete out equal time to everyone who wasn't Sean Connery.
The best part was eyeing off mena harker in that lovely victorian era high dress; and even then she wasn't all that attractive.
So basically, it just wasn't that good at all.

As Presidente said... in a summary shit plot, shit backgrounds, shit spec effects, and shit fight scenes.

ive posted my opinion somewhere else, but yeah basically, the fight scenes were too fast and meina =*drools* thats all i have to say about that.. oh and the very end with the lightning pissed me off... stupidness.

Its ok, wasnt all that incredible, especially the fight scenes with the nemo dude in them... it just looked like a whole bunch of photos of this guy swording people put together in a slideshow then sped up 1000x :roll:
also the ending pissed me off... hate movies that leave themselves open for a sequel :lol:
However if you ignore the shit ending and shit fight scenes, its not really that bad

Its a good movie in my opinion, although there were some elements lacking.
Some character development and information would have been nice, although i guess they were trying to elude to a mysterious set of characters.
The special effects IMO werent too bad, although i couldnt see a sub of that size cruising the canals of Venice :roll:
I give it 3.5 stars.

I think this was the point I was driving at, even if I put it poorly. The screenwriters substituted equal screentime and a tedious parade of resumes from characters as a substitute for real development.

just finished watching it, i enjoyed it at some parts and thought it was shit in others. i didn't like the fact that the bad guy "m" was so weak he did nothing basicly just wear a mask and run away.
and can someone tell me wtf that dude with the picture is? im confused is it a curse or something?

The Picture of Dorian Gray is a book by Oscar Wilde, you'll notice everyone else out of the movie were from novels or related to them (except for Sean Connery), its about an artist and all his evil deeds he does and his age are recorded on a picture and not on himself, however if he looks at the picture it will reverse it and make him what the portrait looked like and vice versa.
So yeah the Dorian Gray in this movie and the one in the book are meant to be the same person

Hello freaky friends.
Now normally I don't go anywhere anything but the Freedom Lans Forums, but a friend of mine told me to come here and check out what people had said. As a big fan of most of those characters from novels, stories and a few movies. And also a huge fan of the Comic book genre I was overall disapointed with what I saw.
Having just returned from Casuarina Cinemas after my third viewing of this movie (Yes I know. someone who watches movies they enjoy more than once... SHOCK HORROR) trying to catch as much of the little side story hints, subtle history references and trying to figure out why there was an Assassin #3 but no #1 or #2.
Despite the American guy I think all characters in the movie were crossed over from many different tales brilliantly. I don't think that "Xmen" #1 or the "Hulk" did anywhere near as good a job as LXG in terms of good comic book style story, theme and progression.
I would have a word about the people who thought the ending was "less than satisfactory" or "setting up for a sequal" but people have requested it not be discussed. So that is all I have to say about that.
To everyone who's thinking of going see it. Do it. Besides one person everyone I've gone to see it with liked it.

I thought it was very entertaining. I like it because it was something different in the way of that style of movie.
Even though it had some dodgy shit happening with the sub, who cares the movie is based on bullshit anyway just sit back and enjoy it.

I knew who he was. I just think it was weak how he was put in it.
