Showing My Docs in My Computer

I'm running Win XP home edition, and for some reason, My documents doesn't show up in My Computer. Now, this isn't the end of the world, but I'd really like it to show up there. All the other My Documents folders from the other users show, but the main account's my docs doesn't. ideas?

I'm slightly confused - the 'main accounts' documents folder? How is the 'main account' any different from any other user?

Maybe some screenies would help...

... but in theory (and lets say your users name is Remy, and theres another user named Calvin), there should be Calvin's Documents, Remy's Documents, and probably Shared Documents.

Yeah it won't show up as my docs, But will have yourname Documents.

That's exactly what is happening, there sould be a Remy's documents, a calvin's documents, hell, even a Hobbes' documents. they all appear, except for Remy's :-(

In this screenie, I'm logged in as "Work", yet no "Works Documents" Appear.

Go to c:\Documents and settings\

Backup the 'Remy' folder (this is your local profile) and copy it to another location.
Delete the original 'Remy' profile.
Create a NEW profile, with the same or similar name.
Done, new account has been created with the default 'All User' settings.

Note, if this is your only account with Local Administrator access, create a NEW account or modify one of the existing accounts, so that it also has Administrator access to your PC. Otherwise u have to boot in safe mode, which is a waste of time.

Ok, now your able to copy all files/folders of your choosing out of the original 'Remy' profile (such as all files and folders in teh My documents folder), back into your new account.

What you have done is effectlvely recreated your profile, hopefully with all the correct settings.

um, see that 'shared documents' folder? thats your documents.
the other user account folders you see are their shared folders, not their actual 'my documents' folder.

Say if u were to log in with the Gaming account, there would be "Work's Documents", "Guest's Documents" and "Partay's documents", and 'Gaming's' documents would then be in "My Documents"

yes, except that when logging in to say gaming, work's documents still doesn't appear in my computer. :-S

Umm I don't quite get what your going on about, and I think i'm thinking of the wrong thing but try this.

start > run > type "gpedit.msc"
Under User Config > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer

Now search the list, it's down the bottom "remove shared docs from My Computer". Double Click it and go disable.

You could try under the advanced option in the windows menu ummmm... menu(right click start button --> properties) it may have been turned off through this.

:-( nope, that wasn't it, that just makes it appear in the start menu, not in My Computer.

Jono, the gpedit.msc as far as I can work out is no longer available in Win XP (at least in the home edition).

Ok let me get this right. (im thick headed I know :P)

Now then, i'm logged in as me the Admin :p or "Jonathan" in this case. I created an account Test for this also. So let me get this right, when your logged in under your main user, you can't see "Mainusers Documents"? in that above screenie? Or if it were me, I wouldn't be able to see "Jonathan's Documents"? But can still see Test's and Shared Docs?

And vice versa, if I were logged in as Test, I then wouldn't be able to see "Test's Documents"? But could see Jonathan's?

Is that the prob?

Also my post above, was for actually making them all not appear :P or all appearing which is obviously not what you want :D Suppose you could still try to see if it does change anything. Appologies about that I only have Pro so was not too sure about home, my bad :P
