Secondly, it goes to your clipboard.
Go into MS Paint, or Photoshop, or any image editing program, and hit CTRL+V (to past it into the canvas).

In MOST applications it will go straight to your clipboard... although some games use PrtScn as the button to take screen shots.
If you need help with screen shots, I recommend SnagIt. Awesome program. But, if you have used PSP or Photoshop or even MS Photo Editor for more than 30 hours... it's a useless program.
