Hey hows it going?...Can anyone tell how to set up my GU user CP?........I've got an avatar but would like another pic under my post!..Please Help...

You need to first upload an image to a webhost (no more than 400 x 90 - rules of the forum. Check the Noob waystation guide in the General Forum). Once that's done, go to your User CP and go to Signature. In the signature box, type in:
[ img ]http://yoururl.com/yourimage.gif[ /img ]
^ No spaces!

I hope that helps. If you can't get the image hosted, ask in here and I'm sure someone will host the image for you. If you need the image hosted, Private Message (PM) me and I'll host it for you.

Hmm...

Ok. So you want to use a picture for your signiture.
First up, I assume you have a picture you want on your computre already.

You cannot, link directly from your machine onto the internet, or at least in your case anyway. So what you have to do is upload that picture onto a web server. Which is basically a server connected to the internet that will hold your picture for you. Once you have it on the server, there should be an address to be able to get access of that picture, or in this case its a url to your picture. You then in the GU CP, under Edit Signiture settings, add the url of that picture and put it in [IMG][/IMG] tags.

There are numerous places on the internet that can host images, and your ISP most probably give you some free space to use, who's your ISP?

For Example:

I have a picture on my computer: C:\Documents and Settings\Jonathan\My Documents\My Pictures\Picture.jpg
I want to use this for my signiture.

I then find someone/where to host my picture. My ISP Internode gives me 10mb? free space to use. So I will use that. I use an FTP program in this case to connect to my free web space, once connected to the server (your ISP should have a document on how to do this) I can simply upload that picture from my machine to the server. Then depending on the ISP/server, they should tell you the address to access your webspace.. for example, with Internode it is something like.. [url]http://users.on.net/~username[/url]
If you go there, there should be a list of all the files you have uploaded via FTP to the server. Now you can simply right click the one for your picture, goto "copy shortcut". This is the address to the picture on the server.

Goto your CP here, under Edit Signiture, there is a box, paste the address in it. it should come up as a nice address like: [url]http://www.users.on.net/~username/Picture.jpg[/url]
Now change it to.. "[IMG]http://www.users.on.net/~username/Picture.jpg[/IMG ]"

I bet that's going to confuse you even more, right? :p

IF you don't understand what I said about uploading it to a server, send me the picture (can email it to me) and i'll put it on my webspace and I'll give u the link to the picture for you to use.

Another thing you can do to get your picture up onto the web is to go to www.geocities.com

Before anyone tells me you cant link images off of there....check where the image in my sig is hosted from....it can be done.

Go to -> CP
Options

There you will find:

"Visible Post Elements
You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts."

Make sure they are all ticked or you WONT see peoples images, etc

Post 12

I can see it... I must be special =D

Post 13

See, it does work, you guys are just S**t

Post 14

i can see it ??

Post 15

It only works if it is already in your cache. You may have gone directly to the picture and now it just loads from your cache. For everyone one else they don't see it unless you view it directly - not from hotlinking.

I think this is the problem as I have run into it before...

Post 16

I doubt it.....It worked straight up off a fresh installof windows.....same n my DOS box which I loaed up yesterday with win98.......and I've never viewed the picture directly from that computer....i've never even logged into the webspace I'm using on the other box.

I just did a couple force refreshes, and I can still see Wrath's sig

Maybe check that you've got that option turned on in your User CP. (like OD said up there ^^^ someplace)
