I was chatting to Morb and he mentioned that the DSL transmission loss limit was going to be further extended. So I had a quick browse of whirlpool and nothing really jumped out at me confirming this issue. Does anyone know if this rumor is true?
They did increased it in April I think but I’m still out of the distance :( Hopefully if they increase it again ill be in.

well apparently there are talks that internode and some japanese telecommunications company will introduce adsl 2 to australia and that will be able to get quite nice bandwidth quite far out from the exchange... but thats only speculation
i've read about tests on whirlpool. Telstra are running tests up to 80db. they are not extending it at this point.. but should in the future.. 1H next year.
i belive it is 56db atm
