ok.. so my problem is this. i'm stuck behind a firewall at university, but i want to play games. they allow you ssh, and i was thinking that i could simply forward the relevant ports using my shell account (not located on the university network) and thus get my frag. so far i havent managed to get it working :/

what i've tried so far is connecting to my account on port 22 and forwarding 27960-5 and listening for connections on the shell. this has gotten me nowhere. im rather new to all this (in fact i only started learning linux so i could play q3 2 days ago :s)

any help would be much appreciated :)

If it's CDU your talking about then they have a very good firewall and I don't think you can do it. I believe they have some pretty smart linux guys working for them who manage their firewall. However don't be disheartened, I'm sure there is someone here who may have some ideas.

I'd say the Comp Sci kids have done a deal with the sysadmins and opened a port allowing them to play.

A few bottles of scotch works wonders :P
