When is the next DGA?

"What would really be aces is for the the Admins to sit down and Map out the next 2 or 3 Lan's Dates in advance, as its much easier to plan and be interested in going to an event if you know when its going to be.

The DGA has been running long enough now for the Admins to be able to have an understanding of the trends in Lan turn out, reference the Schools Terms (avalible from any school), and the NT Public Holidays and events calendar and give us the dates of the next 3 DGA's, in advance.

This would create a much better interest and turn out imo.

And crazy as it sounds, why not do a little Radio advertising, and get the turn out up, Im sure there is lots of people that dont even know that the DGA runs Lans"

Radio Advertising Rate

$55 for 30 second ad.. for EACH ad...
that means each time I put on an ad, 3 people have to hear it and come to DGA.

I don't see why you've posted a new thread when you posted all this in the DGA suggestions thread.. and the meeting was only last night.

Post 3

The next lan will be announed as soon as the dates are confirmed.. and we will give you pleanty of heads up when the next lan will be!

Post 4

Radio Ads, either use the community notice board time that each radio station has, or talk to a sponser and see if they will run sponsered ads.

I understand that you guys place alot of your personal time into the DGA's, but its been a month since the Evo and the first Post to do with the next Lan is this one, lets for secong compare Lans to sports, as they are both my own personal time spent doing something that I do only for the fun, sports have a timetable for the whole season mapped out before the season even starts, Im luckly to know when a DGA is before its 3 weeks away, and never have I seen a set date for the next 2 or 3.

Sure I posted this infomation else where, but that wasn't even replied to.

You guys do a good job running the Lans when I get to them, but you dont give me notice of when they will be next, as Im moving into a new job which will require me to have timetables set out at least a month in advance, so the timetabling of the next Lans is important.

Are there reasons why a yearly timetable cant be set?

Post 5

i said at the start of that thread that things will be discussed at the meeting.. which was last night.

i've tried the community switch, but i've never heard the ads on the radio or channel 7.. there are no guarantees with these ads.. so we can't complain.

Once we have confirmed the dates we have chosen with the greek school we will post a few.. but the only thing is people can't complain if the Greek School makes us change.

Post 6

So what the DGA Needs for set dated is a different more trustable venue?

Post 7

To put it quite simply, we have a date in mind we just need to book and confirm it. This should be done very shortly, hopefully during this week. When its confirmed we will then let you guys know.

Post 8

toki, about the venue change, if u know anythere with stable 3-phase power, very good aircon, large room (fit 130 nerds with computers) and is less than $300 for a day (including power/aircon), please tell us as we would love to know.....

Post 9

I dont think we need to advertise as there is a pretty good turn out at the LANs already.

I think the focus now should be on more solid competitions.

Post 10

Were you at EVO this year?
That was not really a solid turn out compared to other years...
But yeah, I think comps would probably help to attract those who already go to DGA

Post 11

GET UR CLANS READY BOYS AND GALS!!!!! music to my ears. you would think with that many ppl and computers in one room u are there for clan scrims wouldnt you???? could we try a dga based on non stop comps lonnnnng tounaments and stuff wiv nice 30min - 1 hour breaks an a team vs team timetable on the intranet :D (hhmmmm that may be a bit far fetched)

Post 12

no, i most certainly am not ever there for 'clan scrims', and i know i'm not the only one.

HAve to agree here .. In the point that Darwin doesnt have the population and or people to make comp lans viable.

Post 14

Personally, I think we do, we just need a bit more focus. There were a few clans in the old days of CS, that were a competitive force.

Post 15

you're telling me that out of 100,000 people kurt.. we can't make a few CS teams?

Post 16

no not at all. Re read what I said

I am saying that Darwin 100,000 people be it or not, doesnt have the population nor the driving force to make a Comp Only LAN viable.

Be it CS COD UT or any other competitive game that you can think of.

------------------

FYI - Pantheon Esports National comp $25 per person, thats "00 per team for CS .. if we were to do something like that in the NT it would be laughed at ..

Again no local sponsor ship .. No lan cafes. as much as I wanted to push for this even I know it would be useless task.

Post 17

Im with Paladin, clan wars have absolutely no appeal to me at all...I dont like doing the whole clan thing personally..

Post 18

I think being in a Clan is great, but..... If I couldnt leech I wouldnt turn up to a Lan, with ADSL the LAN gaming could always be replaced with WAN gaming...

Post 19

...but where else but a LAN can you hear some fool scream out in frustration cause you jus capped his ass from across the map with a shot you know was a fluke?

Ah yes, fond memories of my first few LANs.

"Who is that who keeps screaming out?"

"Oh, that's Flammable."

Post 21
