My new TV set

Just another quick boasting session, because I'm happier than a school girl meeting Orlando Bloom about my new tele... I present, the Sony KVHX32M31!

[Image: http://pics.livejournal.com/reccy/pic/000033qq]

I was so close to getting the KVHR model (which boasts around 1400 horizontal lines as opposed to 900 - better for HDTV), but couldn't warrant another $600.

Besides, when HDTV is being broadcasted at around 1900 lines, I figured in a couple years time I'll trade-up and get something that can actually reproduce the incoming signal of 1900 in all its glory, instead of spending the extra to buy something that still doesn't quite do it.

Oh, oh, and I also got Sony's HDTV set-top box ($450 off Ebay, as opposed to $700 in store), and a Pioneer DVD capable of playing SACD audio and DVD audio for less than $200 (once again off Ebay).

Gold! :)

you can have nice HD ps3 gaming :D

Post 3

Take it back, its got a picture of a lout burnt into the screen.

Nice tele tho ;)

Post 4

not ps3 ready, ps3 does 1080p, this tv is only 1080i

but in all honesty, Jealous....

Post 5

im suprised, even with a wide screen telly its still able to fit your melon on it :) and have enough spare room to fit your lovly partners on too.

nice telly though, would be perfect for keeping an eye on the BB house.

Post 6

Partner, not plural! And no, the condition of this new set is that reality tv is forbidden. Anyone cought watching BB on it, or any of that other trash, will have to buy me a new one, and have the other one burnt.

Smoking is not cool Jamie.

Post 11

I've quit, haven't had one in months actually - that pic is almost half a year old now.

Post 12

Glad to hear it.
Can you please pass on the sentiment to my wife?
I've been trying to get her to quit for 3 years!

Post 13

It's not really all that hard... you simply don't do it. What I discovered was that there's a concious decisions and physical action required to have one... and you control those decisions and actions. Extraudinary, eh? ;)

Post 14

with statements like that, you sure you havent replaced the tobacco with the "green grass" (the shit that makes you high) :)

Post 15

We've got the 86cm WS Sony and the Sony HD box. Bought it all just as the HD box was on the market but we only paid ~$500 for the STB ($4500 for the TV). Very much goodness especially now that Channel 9 Darwin is fully HD with DD sound. :D

Post 16

You paid $4500 for the TV? You realise it has a Sony RRP of $3999, and is around $3499 in most retail outlets? I'd be investigating the price you were charged mate - that absolutely dreadful... unless of course you bought it yonks ago when it cost a mint?

Post 17

Rec shouldn't you have made that concious decision before you started smoking, saving your the hassel of quiting in the future?

Post 18

When you're 13 the obvious right choices aren't so obvious. And just to repeat, there was no hasstle in quiting.

That would be the exact reason right there. Price included the Sony TV stand as well which of course they rip you off for. But given that its a 120kg TV its nice to have the proper stand so that it doesnt end up falling on its face on the floor.

Post 20

Nice plug on your bitch.

Post 21

^^ haha agreed :P

Post 22

Do you only smoke when your pissed rec? cos it doesnt look natural :D

Post 23

I meant the TV,

Or did i ;)

Post 24

I don't smoke at all anymore. ;)

Post 28

Their life span (if your lucky 2 years), and how quickly they get dead pixels...

Warranty only covers the dead pixels if there are 3000 if them...
