HOTFIX for Battlefield 2 v1.01 Coming Soon
First off, a HUGE thanks to all of you who emailed me in regards to the memory leak found in the update we released earlier this week (v1.01). Your emails found their way to our production team and they’re in the process of evaluating what needs to be done in order to get this fixed. In the meantime, and since the 1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, we recommend that you reinstall the game and NOT the v1.01 update we released earlier this week.

Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics. EA and DICE are committed to getting a fix for v1.01 as soon as we possibly can and will continue to keep you informed through this web space in the coming days.

NOTE: If you installed and are running the newer server files (Win and Linux versions) we made available earlier this week, please revert those as well. We found that those files had the same issues with memory leaks as did the v1.01 update. You can download the older versions here.

-----------

Further more .. Internode servers are staying with 1.01 patch .. so if you play there ignore this :D

Read about that earlier today... My God, EA are a bunch of incompetant f*cks.

"Why are we so shit at our jobs? We're getting paid for this... I don't get it, how do we continue to churn out sloppy work and utter shit?"

Dozens of major issues upon retail release, including blatant netcode and hitbox issues, then a patch that fixed basically nothing and made other things worse, only to find out days later it actually presents another major issue that didn't exist before. A memory leak! Joy! Let's see what the hot-fix f*cks up!

BF2 is quickly making a name for itself as most flawed game ever released by EA... which means the most flawed game to ever appear on shelves. It's strange how a company renound for it's brilliance in the console market (with sporting titles recognised more than anything else) just can't seem to get it right with their PC projects.

If the gameplay wasn't so damn fun, I would have sold it and be done with it already. What a joke.

if its anything to go on knight .. the memory leak is server side .. so if the server is ok then we are ok.

gernerally the game uses around 150mb but with the leak that sky rockets too 800+

800meg of memory usage is still 1.2gig left for everything else here :p

EA are in the habit of driving their programmers excessively hard. I wouldn't be surprised if these bugs were the result of the a 5th/6th/7th coding session in the early hours of the morning.

So yeah, EA's management is a bunch of incompetant f*cks.
