I have just recently been on the prowl to switch banks from TIO, so far Westpac have truly stood out with their "Westpac One" package, add the bonus for under 21 and its even better!

But before I rush in I want to know if anyone else knows of anything better?

i use Westpac One..

used to be with Commonwealth until they decided to post 2 replacement Credit Cards (the ones that you just sign and use by the way) to incorrect addresses because of firstly an incorrect Box Number.. then a dyslexic typing error (transposed my PO Box)

When they refused to listen to my complaints i took all my business to Westpac because of their outstanding customer service, both to my work at the time and to DGA.

Post 3

I use commonwealth for just normal day stuff and ING for savings
Brother uses ANZ for normal stuff and ING for savings

been looking at this also, and have been told by a few people to go for a credit union. Australian Central Credit Union is what i have been looking at, as they have no monthly fees, interest rates are pretty good. etc..

Just to let you know. :D

Post 5

Australian Central isn't bad I'm currently with them at the moment. Do have very high fees from withdrawing from certain atm's - IE westpac... 15 dollars.

Post 6

"5.... for ONE withdrawl?

Post 7

Police Credit Union. Been with em for 18 years. Been real nice to me. Call you by the first name and bend over backwards to get what you want

Post 8

I doubt its "5 for one withdrawal. Im with Australian Central after NT Credit Union got taken over and I have no complaints. Im still with them now even though there is only 1 atm in the whole of geelong that I know of that will give me a bank balance :p

I would only look at Interest Rates if I was to have a linked savings account as they offer pretty helpful interest rates.

On my journey through the Westpac site I found this savings account - Max-i Direct
Looks pretty good...

im with ANZ .. and im quite sure i don't pay any fees at all because im a student......

i remember i got stuffed after i turned 18 and told them i was attending uni and they wont charge me for 4 years.. .however i could be wrong but very un likely.

Post 11

eh, was with Westpac for about 6 years till they utterly and royally pissed me off with their useless customer service. Cues were always slow, and other little niggly things that annoyed me about them and how unhelpfull they are. Example, they gave my dad a mastercard but wont hand him the Visa card he original asked for unless he brings in his tax information, despite having been with the bank for like 25 years with his home and business accounts. Me, I told them where to go and went to ANZ who practically bend over backwards for me.

Post 12

i have a max-i direct savings account,.. also a very nice account for savings anyway

I see there are a couple with the Credit Unions, I am not so much looking for somewhere with superb service, I am looking for a Transaction Account with Savings Account with best features for the best price, are Credit Unions worth while in this regard? or is it best to go with a Bank?

Post 15

with the locaen CPS credit union, but commonwealth bank for savings and visa....students get accounts with no fees (bar transaction from other ATMs etc)

Post 16

im with bank sa for credit card Westpac for business and TIO for personel

Switched to Westpac One, and I must say I am very impressed at the Customer Service I recieved, top notch. When I first went in there a week ago to inquire about some information, I was there for what 10min...
I stepped through the door today and the lady that helped me last week remembered me by name and by face, greeted me by name as I stepped in the door. :D
I was served by a Jason Ivinson at the Palmerston Branch, he set up my accounts, he was also fantastic! Went through every step and gave his opinion. Looking forward to the years to come!

/end satisfied customer story

Does Westpac have the option to have a debit card to use for Visa or Mastercard
credit transactions with the funds comming out of your saving account?.

I honestly don't think there's such a thing as a "good" bank. For every person who can say "I've been with Bank X for 10 years and they've always been good to me." there's another person who will tell you that they got screwed over by them and took their business elsewhere.

Just find something that looks good and go with it. Fishing for opinions just adds to indecision imho, and you're no less likely to get screwed over in the long run.
