Channel Setup

New channels have been created for the GU Mumble Server for a small number of popular games. New game channels may be created upon request.

Each channel has its appropriate sub-channels:

Aion - (GU Aion Legion)
.../Instance #1
.../Instance #2
.../PvP
.../Raid Channel

CSS
.../PUB
.../War 1
....../Team 1
....../Team 2
.../War 2
....../Team 1
....../Team 2

Left 4 Dead
.../Versus Match
....../Survivors
....../Infected

TF2
....../Clan Match
........./Team 1
........./Team 2

The channels regarding FPS teams are not currently password protected as posting them up in this thread defeats the purpose. Passwords can and will be created on request for specific clan matches or Vs games.

Regarding the Aion channel: the majority of the users in here are members of the GU Aion Legion ('We Are Legion'). Please feel free to join these channels and say hello. The RAID and PvP channels may be password protected on occasion, to avoid any interruptions. Persons joining the Aion channel for the intent of flaming or trouble making will be swiftly ejected.

As with all GU Servers; be respectful of other users and do not abuse the privilege.

NB: When joining the GU Mumble server you may be prompted to submit a certificate. Please follow this process as it allows easier identification of our users etc.

Cheers to Milenko for setting up the above channel structure.

thanks rec :) much love sweetie

Post 12

Does the voice server get shutdown at 1am each morning or something. Had been offline last couple of nights??

Post 13

That was an issue with our Australian provider. It will be going down again tonight as we move it to a new box, but then will hopefully never be down again. :)

Post 14

Still down?

Post 15

Yeah, sorry guys. It'll be up sometime tomorrow perhaps. Dan's spent the day in bed, but he'll get onto setting up the new VPS (and in turn Mumble) as soon as he has the ability.

Mumble server now back online, but importing the old database failed. Please right click on yourself, and re-register yourself with the server once you've connected (need to have a valid auth cert created already).

If you have any channels you specifically want, let me know. I've re-created most, to the best of my memory.

Mumble has been updated to beta 2, as well. So go grab it from SourceForge. It also now supports positional audio for Modern Warfare 2. We're going to have a session tonight, so jump on if you're free.

Mumble 1.2.0 stable now available; Mumble

Post 19

GU Mumble server updated to 1.2 final.

Post 20

Server updated to 1.2.3

Post 21

Is the who's in mumble thing up the top broken for anyone else?

Post 22

Me. Ironically. I'll take a look whenever I get 10 to 10000secs.

Post 23

Silly question; but does it reject UK IP's?

I have the 1.2.3 client and am unable to connect. (Remote host closed the connection).

Cancel that, working now.

Post 24

There has been a bit of trolling activity by strangers in clan channels lately.

So now we're now facilitating the setting up user access tokens for channels, but only to GU Premium users, upon request. It's essentially a channel password (that you don't have to enter when joining thanks to the token).

I've updated the Mumble page accordingly: http://gamers-underground.com/content/682-about-mumble-voice-chat.html

Post 25

Any ETA on mumble? I am happy to provide a working intrem server in Perth through an Virtual instance on my cloud if you would like?

Post 26

The mumble server is up and running fine Lothar, used it the other night.

Post 27

i downloaded the new client and will have to check I got all the right settings mine was timing out last nite as I tried to get on.

Post 28

Lothar's complaints are valid, there has been issues with the new location - it keeps getting denial of service attacked.

We already have another server set up, but I've been lazy and haven't ported all the channels across yet. Will get onto it real soon!

Post 29

i cant connect to mumble most times of the day atm.. i can see that there is 18 people on there but my mumble trys to load the channels and lags out and crashes. can connect to other mumble servers fine.. is this server still having issues??

Post 30

Every time I try to connect to Mumble now it says Server connection failed: Connection refused.

Now this is weird because only every now and again it will let me connect even though theres only 7 people in Mumble. It also keeps booting me and other shit which is weird.
