Well i borrowed a External hdd of knight and i noticed that it only runs in usb 1.0 insted of 2.. Now my windows is fully updated.. i have double checked that.. all my USB ports should be usb 2.0.. back and front.. i found this in device manager.. any one got any clues? Im lost :(
My motherboard document assures me that all USB ports are 2.0 however after looking on forums and having the same trouble, only 2 of them are. Don't know if that is the same with you but food for thought

Step 1: Please go to "Windows Update" (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to Install Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver or Windows XP Service Pack 1.
Step 2: Open Device Manager and open the properties for the USB 2.0 host controller. Then Click 'Refresh' button and you will see the USB2.0 driver is install already.
Matty man you need to update your shit. a couple of things? What brand is your chip set? have you updated already? What service pack you running? i can say now? - are your running usb 2? from the message you got mmmmmmm? - you might consider looking at the drivers your using atm as you probly already have uninstall usb and reinstall very simple but do it as you never know. as you know service pack 2 still has issues..... but enough from me man msn me or email me or i'll catch you later be cool. mmmm - Hint its all in the hubbb
lol windows service pack does not auto install USB 2 drivers double click the USB controller and update automatically if you installe the service pack it will find the new "high speed" driver right away.

For all those geniuses who keep suggesting to update Windows and install service packs - obviously intelligence doesn't extend to reading ability.;)
Metal - Wortel has hit the nail on the head. Service Pack 2 enables full USB2 compatability, but you still need to install the USB 2 drivers - with VIA, it's a separate installation; not sure what the case is with Intel. I'm assuming it would be the same.
