Ya can dl the open beta for free atm like 480mb or something. Its a lot like li2 but the pve/setting/skill system is a lot better.
Theres still a lot they need to add in but its a heap of fun. The translations are dodgy and some of the buttons are missing text atm so just work ya way through the character creation screen :).
When they finish it im assuming it will have race vs race fighting like WOW but with a clan/alliance system like L2. It says ya can take over castles and towns etc. It also has faction vs faction fighting but thats more to just see what pvp is like :)
Eve is gay. I spent 30mins trying to work out how to go forward and when I did, I couldnt work out how to stop and crashed into a Asteroid and died. :(
So its missing a lot of what the help file says you can do. Same end game content as L2 but the PVE is similar to guild wars i guess. Seems to have a longish lvling system to L2 to.
Once your lvl 20 you can pick to go a trader, warrior or thief. Traders can buy an item for say 100 gold then walk along to the next city and sell for 200 etc. Thiefs job is to kill traders and talk their items. Warriors job is to kill thiefs.
Just one of the nice things it added for content. Got my L2 guild to try it and we are more then likely quiting L2 for it and these are mainly people who have stuck with L2 since CB/OB.
Ohh and each character ya pick (Can change their looks/size etc) is meant to have their own unique story to play out as ya travel down the Silk Road.
Game apparently got rated number 1 in Korea with Sun online number 2, for best new games to look foward to or something like that.

no you didn't, you bounce off asteroids, you always have :P the real reason evil doesn't like eve is because you just can't "power level".
coco, yeah the game is very very pretty, i think it strikes a good balance between being friendly to the solo/casual player (skills train while you are offline, you can accomplish stuff by yourself), and providing stuff to do for the hardcore players (player owned stations, massive fleet battles, fighting for control over rare minerals & resources).
getting around can be a little tedious, as the universe is huge so there's a lot of ground to cover, and dying is actually rather painful - losing your ship costs you a lot of money, and having your escape pod killed can actually cost you real life time (you may lose skills if you dont keep your clone up to date).
all in all what i'm enjoying most about it this time, as opposed to WoW, is the player crafting system is actually viable, and you can make money from it. every item in the game is craftable (apart from 'named' loot, which is slightly better than the generic stuff). anyway. civ iv beckons
