I went out and splurged on the new G15 today. It's pretty damned nice, certainly a lot better then my USB 108 $20 shitter. ^_^

Post 7
Don't worry man, like you said, they had more out back. ^O^
You should go buy it, it's pretty good.
Post 8
EB have heaps of them. The board doesn't boast any features that I'd appreciate or put to real use, but I can understand why it's a "must have" item for some people.
Post 9
heheh its huge. Do you use all those G keys?
Post 10
Honestly I haven't used any of them. ^_^
As for a must have, it's not, but as I said, an improvement over my $20 usb manilla shit.

Just went and got my-self one, not as big as first expected, just longer in width really. Nice keyboard, nice layout, love the backlit key feature as well as the LCD. Personally Lovin' it ;)
Post 12
I got one :D took me 5 phone calls to find one.. And EB ended up having one that someone hadent picked up.. so i got the last one at EB :D
Post 13
i saw that in eb and thought to myself...when im playing games am i looking down at my keyboard or at the monitor? so what the hell good is an lcd screen on the keyboard?? not to mention the price...owch that much just for a keyboard? i think ill stick with my $30 ms keyboard
Post 14
There are other features apart from the LCD that make this a nice buy. Personally use the LCD to display my music info which is very convenient as my media player hides in the sys tray. Oh and the backlight is oh soo sexy ;)
Post 15
Been using one for the past 5 days now, very cool keyboard.
At first I never really cared much for the fancy stuff, I just wanted a nice keyboard that went well with my system, not to mention I personally think you can't get any better then Logitech when it comes to a keyboard.
So what do I think of it? Fcking sweet.. First off, it's not as big as it actually looks in the photos, it's actually quite a nice size. The main keybaord is as per your normal logitech boards, nice feel, quite soft buttons, quiet, just how I like it :)
Leonami, no it doesn't have those crappy flock keys :p All your F keys are there from 1 to 12 in sets of 4 like normal.
Backlit keys are nice, although don't really do much when you don't look at the keys when typing, but if your anything like me and up late at night when you can't see properly then it can help a little lol. Nice blue glow, not too bright and not too dull. Also a button to turn the lighting off if you so desire.
The LCD, ok ok so many people probably think its just a ricey wank thing.. sure enough, but its actually is pretty useful :p As default it can, Show the time (both analgue and digital, with the options for changing the appearance of the clock), lets you know how many unread emails you have and when your receiving any, CPU and Memory usage, Media display (song title, time, etc etc) and also shows you when you change profiles.
It's quite configurable, can let it auto rotate between all screens, certain ones, stay on one, etc. The speed in which it does it, brightness and contrast and so on.
Fraps now support it and you can display your FPS along with a line graph of your current FPS and keep an idea of how things are going, looks pretty good for a basic LCD.
Media buttons work well and has support for just about every popular media players, along with displaying info on the LCD.
A nice little switch to disable that all annoying Windows key for when your gaming too :)
Something I haven't looked too much into as of yet are the G keys. There is 18 all up with 3 sets to quick switch to. Giving you a total of 54 keys to setup. Combine that with different profiles for different games, applications and the rest you have a lot of room to play with.
Can bind just about anything to those keys, including macros, which is very handy for games and stuff (although some do consider it cheating :S), programs, other buttons. I believe I even saw a program to be able to adjust the speed of your mouse through them too, although bit pointless if you can do it on the mouse already. I'll play around with these more and see how useful they can be ingame. Playing WoW I might set these up to be able to auto follow for example. Basically anything you can do via the keyboard you could macro it and have it hotkeyed right there at a touch of a button.
Another cool feature is the quick macro button, Just press it, select a G key, do your combo of keys, set it and you now have a new macro on the fly :D Can also record a macro with timing or instatly execute it without any delays.
That and two usb ports, and you have quite a full on keyboard :o
See if I can get a photo of FRAPs going tomorrow.

Here's the Keyboard I'm using now:
Key Board
If you click on the Keysets on the left hand side, I've got the Battlefield 2, and WoW ones for now.
The WoW keyset has DEFINATELY made life easier as I run around Azeroth.

The LCD on the keyboard is great. When raiding in WoW with TS, the plugin for the LCD tells me all the usful info like who's talking etc. There is a program out there where you can make it display just about anything you want, although i havent played around with it much. Also the macro keys are great. I'd get one for my office if i didnt have my current keyboard.
If you can get one they come highly recommended! :)
Post 18
Dont' get me wrong, this is without the best keyboard I've ever used... however it does have faults... though pretty minor.
For me, I move straight to the left, and find myself lining my hands up to the G Keys. I've almost knocked it out of my head, but I'm still getting there.
The USB Ports are only 1.1, or at least reduced speed 2. I've tried plugging USB2.0 devices into it, but keep coming up with warning that it "could" be faster.
That's about it. Nothing else is wrong with it. Great experience.
Post 19
Yeah I just noticed a few flaws with the USB too. Tried pluging my ipod into it and comes up saying isufficient power to operate this device. But that could be due to the fact I have the keyboard plugged into the monitor.
Also the problem abou moving straight over to the left, I got used to it very very quickly, now it just feels natural.
Post 20
awwww.. i want one now... but none till late jan :(
Post 21
well just shopping around at WOW truck city and saw the G15 keyboard. So something new to try at home tonight :D
Flamming big keyboard though and I do know what you mean with the G keys and having to get back into position. I'll get there in time ;)
I like the light setup on keys, so that will be good for lights out time for gaming.

Whats wrong with flock ?
Post 23
the fact that it's turned off by default.
Post 24
mine was not on my microsoft Digital media Pro keyboard :)
Post 25
i think he means press to use flock? in which is would suck. but f lock is just like num lock, and can be kept on.
Post 26
logitec have it off by default
Post 27
My one at work is like that - drives me insane.
Post 28
You'll find that the USB ports on the keyboard are 1.1, and are unpowered, meaning you can't use them to recharge or power things.
Post 29
...unlike my Zboard which has 2 USB ports off which I run my illuminated mousepad and lights which are sitting behind my monitor!

I personally will have a desk lamp or my neon bar sign on if the room light is off, just haveing my monitor on in the dark does hurt my eyes after about 5-7 hours of gaming.

Good, very easy to setup. Actually it's more of an install and thats it..

Just download it and install it, enable it to display on the LCD and awy you go.
Everything else you quoted from my post is done from the software on the disk or downloadable from logitech's website.

mm to be honest I haven't looked, I wouldn't be suprised if someone writes a script for MBM and other similar software. I did read on a few forums about configuring your own, etc.. relaly couldn't tell you off the top of my head what they were atm, search for something like g15 lcd mods..
