I bought a Pentax Optio 60 camera a few weeks ago, and since the beginning I have had problems putting the photos on my computer. I have memory card slots on my computer tower, which work fine with my mum's Sony Memory Sticks. I put my SD memory card directly into the slot in my tower, and the dialogue box popped up as usual, prompting me to choose an action for the memory card.

I selected 'Open Folder to View Files'. There are two folders on my memory card. One titled 'DCIM', and within that, one titled '100PENTX', containing the photos. When I open the 'drive' that my computer recognises the memory card as, I can only go so far as to open the drive before this message comes up:

Sometimes I can open the DCIM folder, but not get into the 100PENTX folder. I resorted to using the USB cord provided with my camera, and I was able to access the photos. However, the above problem sometimes occurs when I use USB.

I have found that the solution to this is to take a few more photos of nothing in particular, then try USB again. I have installed the drivers for my camera, but I don't think that they should affect the memory card itself. I have also tried formatting the memory card.

Does anyone know a possible solution to this problem? Please let me know if you need any more information. I have included as much as possible.

Read.

Anyhow, try using another SD card, it may just be the one you have is faulty.

Because the problem still occurs sometimes, even with USB. I want to find the problem and fix it, so it doesn't happen again. Someone suggested that formatting the memory stick, then ejecting it through 'safely remove hardware' every time will prevent it from becoming corrupted.
