Construct a PC Blindfolded!

Teams of two will race against the clock to construct a PC. One will be blind folded the other will instruct how to build the PC. This will include screwing the screws in and plugging in the mouse and keyboard. The fastest to finish wins! Eater will be judging the competition.

Competition will take place late on Saturday night.

Prize: Chupa Chups!

i build computers for a living, have done so for 1 year and 3 days :P
built 905 systems to date.

this comp is mine for the taking [Image: http://games.internode.on.net/forums/images/smiles/icon_twisted.gif]
i challenge any duo to take me on

PS, i can see alot of baaaad things happening, you might wanna get a pnless cpu for the comp HEHEHE

Post 3

what would be deem as a successful build? having all components installed correctly, or also getting it to post:o?

Post 4

Having all componets installed correctly I would think. Have to get more details from Eater. But I don't think he wants ram installed incorrectly and then for his 'old computers' to be indefinatly dead. Although I assume with computers being entered into this comp, it might be an idea that they are already dead.

You will not have to install the heat sink and CPU.

easier to **** up the pins on an lga socket than the pins on a cpu. easier to fix a cpu with bent pins too.

Post 9

yeah that'd do it. way to read.

I can see this competition sporting battle scars... Its bad enough I get small cuts when working on PCs unblindfolded... Blindfolding and doing it fast is just asking for trouble...
Oh well I spose the chupa chups would make it all better...

Post 11

While I would prefer to give kickboxing blindfolded a go I guess I can try my hand at this :p

Post 12

For liability sake and humour, make them wear gardening gloves while doing this too :P

Post 13

oh now that would be cool Jay...

Post 14

im wondering how many participants you would get for this given the possibility of damaging a working comp or having to lug in an already bust one

Post 15

Eater is supplying the computers, Eater knows the risks... but 2 possible broken computers out of 20 in his grave yard really isn't that much of a drama. Eater already has to take down the BBQ, Tables etc to EVO.. two old computer isn't really that much of a hassle.

Post 16

ah. i though it was a bring your own to build. k

Post 17

well i can supply sd ram if you wish (if used), just got to tell how many you need and i should be able to make the cut.

its working ram but i have lots of it.

what type of machines will the comp users be working on. I have access to spare hdd, cdroms and fdd as well.

let me know and i'll see what i have at the back.

In all honesty nothing should really get broken, there is no need to be forceful with hardware. A system is so easy to build, 2 people should be able to do this no problem at all.

lol Jay, that'd be worth a watch :p

Post 21

Easy, but against the clock ;)
