the CPU is running at 56 degrees on windows but when playing a game it rises to 75 degrees and computer shuts down. i am using the thermal i got with the thermaltake subzero4g cpu cooler. the cpu is not overclocked.
haha not me, axis of evil did. and hes got a laptop so he gave it to me :D, i have a 2200+ and it runs 30 degrees wit that cooler. but the other one just wont work. it never used to do that tho :S.
ok ill do that, oh another thing, the CPU Fan goes to 2000rpm and then 9000rpm, keeps jumping across. i dont think its doing that anymore, i gota check when i get home.
Oh dear.. Thermaltake and TEC in the same sentence should not be allowed :|
Umm the fan is automatically controlled I believe so the hotter that TEC gets the faster it's going to spin which is pretty obvious, being in Darwin i'd assume it'll hit top speed quite often.
As for the high temperatures, not really sure, try all your common things, reseat heatsink, make sure the PCI card has its power cables all connected firmly, take off the side panel and try that (I bet this thing generates some nice heat in the case).
Yeah but the fan doesn’t spin at a consistent speed. i don’t know wats going on. like it spins at 2000, then jumps to 9000 then back down to 6000rpm, and sometimes stays on 4000 rpm. lol maybe the subzero4g is screwed. ill try wat u said when i get home. I have done it a couple of times but i was quite annoyed and rushed it. ill test the standard cpu heatsink and fan it came with aswell.
If I could still remember the CPU cooling gospel according to Jono, peltier systems are alright for as long as you can control condensation. It's water vapor condensation that really causes the 5H1+s using peltiers.
In some of my recent cooling attempts I tried using a peltier + water block + pump + radiator with a water reservoir. I didn't get consistent cooling performance out of the setup. Best results were achieved by using a strong fan to blow out any potential condensation out of the electronics area before the form there. Also inverting the whole CPU box (so that gravity will work in your favor) in case water vapour does form makes a good safety set up. Another trick I learned is constantly changing the water or exposing them to air where heated water can form dew. You know that a cooling effect is achieved when the water forms dews (or condenses) outside the reservoir (if it forms inside the electronics, you're in trouble). And if you want to go on extremes, add ice to the reservoir. It'll do magic for some time until the ice melts and you're back in to cooling with just plain water.
Towards the end, I removed the peltier and just stuck with using the water block system. I'm not brave enough to keep on operating my beast dangerously.
