Hope all's well in that cold place we call 'down south'.

Mostly bloody freezing ;) It is very cold and very dark when I wake up mornings now. Its the only thing I really object to about winter, the sun doesn't make an appearance until far too late in the day! Luckily my cats bitch at me for food so I don't 'accidently' sleep in too often *grins* I'm going to be in terrible trouble if I ever move somewhere that has real winter, hehe.

Playing Acayni (42 Swashbuckler) in EQ2 on the Najena server if you are ever in any of the Sony lands and can say hi :)

Still working, moved house a few times (and will again shortly), went into net connection withdrawal and back out again, scarred but still functioning *winks*

How is WoW working out for you guys? Is that a pvp server?

Yeah we still giving WoW a bash, most of us havent reached end game stuff yet(those of us playing for the first time), but with a much less severe grind the end is in sight. So theres still heaps to keep us around atm. We are on a PvP server, we wouldn't have it any other way:p

Do you play Lineage anymore? There's still a few people there but the L2 population(clans, alliances etc)has changed alot even since we were there.

you should come and give wow ago, there is plenty of people online all the time, as well as a few people you can call dictionary's of wow :)

also what is C4 like if you still play, curious to know if they are still adding as much content as previous patches.

Haven't played L2 since last year. I tried out Eve for a while then gave EQ2 a go and I can't afford to keep multiple accounts up and running anymore so decided to settle on EQ2 for a while. I'm in a guild with a few RL friends but we haven't looked at raiding yet since we're still levelling. Enjoying the game quite thoroughly so far although I'm very glad I didn't play it in the first year or so after it was released. The heritage quests are fun, I'm currently wielding a polished granite tomahawk and a serrate bone dirk and last night I picked up a flowing black silk sash, hehe. I tried out WoW back when it first came out (think I have a level 11 troll cleric hehe) but I got bored and I liked L2 much better at the time.

My electric heater was on for about 10mins and then blew the surge protector, hehe. I've got one of those big heaters that requires a gas bayonet in a box, I just have to get round to unpacking it...

Been moving house a few times too many lately, I'm leaving about 3/4 of my stuff in boxes at the moment, hehe. I miss my books ;)

I can't remember the last time I had to use a heater.

How are your finding EQ2 as compared to L2?

L2 - I miss the character automatically stepping up to the mob when you attack it. The artwork is prettier. Its always pvp whereas if you want that in EQ2 you need to play on a pvp specific server. I wasn't really into that side of things though so I don't miss it. Nothing will ever be able to compare to sieging :)

EQ2 - lots and lots and lots of quests. You can have up to 75 in your journal at a time and I regularly run up to that many. They range from soloable to needing a group to requiring a raid, almost always have some interesting story behind them and usually have good rewards. I almost never kill anything just for the sake of xp, its always for some additional purpose. I'm not levelling fast but it never feels like a grind. When I do group I tend to get about half a level in a night though on average, but thats also been following quests.

The characters themselves are very interesting to play. You get at least one new ability every level which you can them upgrade in power if you get the books for it (either as drops or player made). I have 3 hotbars worth of abilities that I make use of regularly and another 2 that just used occasionally, like being able to gate back to a chosen bindpoint once an hour (damn useful!). So actually fighting really keeps your attention. Having the GUI being so completely customiseable is really awesome as well, you can adjust absolutely anything you like.

The game has all the interesting things you've grown accustomed to in recent games - send mail (text and items) to other players in game, griffin towers to help you travel across zones faster, nice market interface to be able to buy and sell items with other players, horses and other forms of increased movement (like a quest to get a flying carpet) etc. Although I'm told the ability to jump off the griffin partway there is unusual. The horses have a lot of options, a big range in price, looks and speed.

You get your own house to decorate which is actually pretty cool and its where you set up your selling point for items. My house has furniture, paintings, a LOT of books, hehe, and a few pets. I have a cat named Maurice, a rat named Peaches and an aviak hatchling named Flutter. You can do some amazing decorative stuff if you want. Like you can tell the pets to 'play dead' and cover your floor with dead bats if you really want. And other people can come look at your place if you set the permissions for them to do so. Or you can set permissions to share your house with other people. Again there is a range. I got an inn room for free when I start the game and it costs a minimal amount per week to upkeep. If you are high level and wealthy and in a high enough level guild, you can have a full multi-storey, many roomed mansion with roof garden and go really wild ;)

I've basically been pretty impressed by EQ2. You have zone time, but each zone can be massive so it doesn't happen that often. The world is really enormous. I don't think I've ever really gone 'I wish my character could do this other thing' because I'm so amazed by all the things I can do with it. There is downtime on an almost nightly basis, but its fairly late so doesn't tend to interfere (10pm for Perth, 11pm during daylight savings) and they don't tend to do the patching on weekend so you can play straight through on a Saturday night most weekends if you are so inclined.

My character is only level 43, so I haven't personally seen the really high end game yet. After level 50 you don't get all your skills for free anymore automatically when you level which I imagine sucks a bit. A friend of mine is always telling me how much fun he is having raiding a couple of times a week with his guild. Being able to level your guild up is pretty neat too :)
