The game looks great, but after looking at the gui interface it seems like to play the game will be painfull. Other than that, if they improve the interface I think it would be a very enjoyable game. But until then, im putting it into the could of bin basket allready.

Post 7

Cant wait....

Post 8

so should be out next month hey i can wait either

Post 9

They have a demo out - not bad, looks like you need a hellbeast when there's some big fights, though....

And, yes - that UI looks like you are looking through a spam can a small field of view. The camera also needs a bit of work, too.

But it looks like it has multiple monitor support.

Post 10

The multi monitor support is in the demo all it appears to do is allow you to view 2 part of the map at the same time. Still need to get some more time with it and learn some shortcuts but atm the interface feels clumsy.

Post 11

so its out now via the usual naughty ways - anyone played it yet?

Post 12

6.8gig. that's an offpeak download if ever i've seen one

Post 13

Ive just queued it up, cant wait to see what its like. Hope it will run smothly on my PC though :(

Post 14

Started getting it yesterday when there was only 1 seed, but its still slow as all hell (40% down)

Post 15

bugger it. getting it in lunch break to share at work. 1.7MB/s ftw.

Post 17

I played the demo with dualview and it lagged extremely bad. I sport a 7600 GT so not sure whats the go there.

Post 18

I running the retail verssion on a 6600GT at medium detail and no probs for me.

Post 19

I found it gets really really really slow when there is a lot of stuff happening - It needs a crapload of CPU power.

I can have it on High detail (theres no lag when paused etc) and the detail level has no effect on how slow/fast it is when there are approx 500 units around.

Turning the game speed down helps this out a fair bit, but playing at a slow speed does not make this game enjoyable. Hopefully there will be a patch soon...\

Post 20

If i remember correctly, TA had a massive footprint as well.
They did later release a patch that massively reduced performance related issues.

Fingers crossed they do the same here.
I built a massive army in the tutorial mode, to look at the different units etc.
Launched a nuke at my own base - next to 5 fusion power plants and 5 sub-commanders.

5minutes later, my machine stopped lagging =/

Also - how the fk do you detonate your commander?

Post 21

cant less he dies im sure
Otherwise you det and game fisnishes (in demo where you cant change rules for engagement)

Post 22

Nah I'm talking about Retail Version.
In TA you could CTRL+D to detonate on a timer.
Can't seem to find the command anywhere in SupCom :(

They'd better have allowed it - Detonating your comm. inside enemy bases was fun ;p

Post 23

...and loosing?
not sure where you are going with this tactic

Post 24

would be alirght with a sub commander.

Post 25

if you had changed the settings to game continues after commander death, a commander bomb was a legitimate tactic

Pick up your com with a transport plane, fly at the wall of enemy defense big ass explosion puts a nice hole in the def line, thru which you heavy bombers/brawlers/hawks fly into, then circle deep within the enemy base, or set to turn off map if it was built in a corner...

man I love TA, supercom better compare well :P

Post 26

Damn you 6GB @ 6kb/s :'(

Post 27

lag....

A man after my own heart ;)
Brain remember how in TA you could send a squad after an enemy commander - blow it up, then keep pushing into the enemy base because the blast radius was usually small enough to not harm your troops? Not anymore ;(

I lost 89 units that were in the blast radius. Aka 1/4 of the fking map :p

Post 29

full on nuke explosion

Post 30

I just wanna say quickly, super com is ****ing GRAND!

I can't wait till everyone in the world has quad core cpus so we can all play it right :P

Post 31

Just turn detail down, set unit limits at 250 and play on the 5 x 5 maps, No problem ;) (gameplay may be stunted though)

Post 32

sigh... /stares at new computer threw glass window

i will be getting this game and it will be the 1st game on my new pc that i play (sigh bit of a wait thow)

At least in TA you could Detonate unwanted units to get your cap back :(

Post 34

Try reclaiming them.

I had to do that once - too many useless units. I tried attacking them (they didn't take any damage) so I tried reclaiming, which worked ;)

Post 35

Yeah but that requires mass queueing :p

Post 36

ctrl+k to cide units btw :P

Post 37

/hugs copy of Supreme Commander
