The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.
damn that sucks, guess thats what happens when u try and replace the main actor with some guy and chick from farscape and hope it still works
no way will atlantis survive by itself, it'll die like a majority of spin offs do.
still 10 seasons is heaps for an american scifi show, and its only sci-fi channel that has cancelled it - still got skyone, showtime canada, ch7 etc - it may be enough to keep it afloat u never know
Firefly cut, SG1 possibly cut, Battlestar Galactica skating on thin ice. Hell look at Star trek and that was within millimetres of being cut decades ago. Oh well more time for gardening/renovating and reality shows, aren't we the lucky ones. /sarcasm
Yeah apparently season 3 was close to not being done(can't remember the source, but was on the internet so must be true:p ). Hopefully season 3 draws the crowds in droves so they have to continue, but sci-fi audiences aren't that numerous comparatively, they are however very loyal.
Was a while back, probably it was just one of those bullsh*t rumors that go around the industry. Needless to say i was devastated and could not imagine why they would even think about axing such an awesome show at the time.
SG-1 was based off a crappy movie, and while a good premise, was full of horse turd. Maybe if they'd stopped making such dodgy episodes then it would have been better. Everytime there was even a glimmer of hope, the story writers and producers jumped onto the bandwagon with some new bullshit concept. They ruined the series.
Sadness is however, the scrapping of Firefly. I haven't watched Battlestar (yet, but I hope to) but I think it'd be another good Sci Fi series. Haven't heard anything on it myself though.
well i've been big fan of sg1 and atlantis and after last weeks disapointment i can say they must be running out of idea's :( same with the last atlantis episode that was pretty bad aswell :S "SIH" i got my girlfriend into stargate hahahaha i converted a non believer :O
i own every single season on (LEGIT) dvd and i got all excited when season 9 was released on dvd but then i remembered season 9 wasn't as good as season 8 but sooo far season 10 hasnt been all that bad i just wish they would hurry up and fight more with the ori :S
Quote from paladin;276832: i'm still confused as all **** over the season two finale, gonna have to rewatch that before season three.
Both season enders hit you in the balls like a jackhammer imo. Truly awesome scripting. And there's only a few episodes in each season that are sort of filler episodes, they have kept the main story moving along nicely and havent become bogged down in day to day episodes like star trek for example. I'm with you, no idea where they are going to take this in s3.
Back on topic with SG1, I agree some of the storylines do lack that something new and special, but to be fair, after 10+ seasons surely they gotta be running out of ideas unless they introduce more 'never seen before' aliens and shit.
I would have to disagree with Battlestar being the best sci fi ever, some dodgy characters on that show or maybe just the actors, I watched it for first season and 3-4 of second.
I wasnt too shocked when I saw the news for SG1 but 10 seasons isnt just anything to sneeze at; great accomplishment!
The writers could of done better on a couple of eps however the Ori story was good, just the comic relief wasnt there with Ben Browder.
I'm into SGA more these days and with the newer characters its a nice mix atm.
Cornel Sheppard is the new Jack O'neil and mixing it with Rodney and the others, its refreshing & quite funny.

the 'dodgy' characters are the point. unlike 99% of other sci-fi's it doesnt portray humanity as having reached some idyllic point in their evolution.
Battlestar Galactica is the best SCI-FI show ever PERIOD.
I'm a huge trekkie have all the episodes, and i really like stargate and most other sci-fi shows (except farscape that shit was awful) but battlestar is just something else
I know a number of people who dont watch sci-fi but still think battlestar is an awesome show - that says it all, if ppl who dont watch scifi still love the show then its doing something right
Having recently watched all of Battlestar and all of Firefly in the last month, i think Battlestar is far grittier and the people are much more realistically depicted than any other Sci Fi series ive seen. Firefly's actual writing I think is far superior in general. I'd have to give the acting edge to Battlestar tho, with big ups for the actor that plays the firefly captain.
Deadwood creams them both in every department tho IMO :)
Not sure if I would call BSG the best ever ^^ I cant believe you put TNG above Farscape ......
